Vacationers in St. Maarten also can enjoy entertainment from around the world. On Frontstreet in Philipsburg, strolling Calypso musicians entertain. Steel bands are found everywhere, and weekly Carnival Nights are held at several resorts. Live lounge entertainment featur- ing Las Vegas acts also can be enjoyed at many resorts. Added savings are avail- able through mid-December on the St. Maarten “Island Spree.” Vacationers can stay for seven nights and pay for only five. The same offer applies to rental cars as well. Travelers on the “Island Spree” program also can obtain many dis- counts at restaurants and shops. Ask your travel agent for details. Year ‘round, Dutch hospi- tality and French joie-de- vivre greet St. Maarten visitors. Golfing, tennis and an array of watersports, along with warm tempera- tures and sunny skies, add to the summer pleasures on this tiny bit of Europe set in the blue Caribbean. These vehicles combine the comfort and convenience of a luxury passenger car with the tough- ness and capability that buy- ers expect from a truck. The Blazer and Jimmy (both built on the same plat- form with the same mechani- cal specifications) feature a new, aerodynamic exterior straight-line tracking. Safety improvements include the addition of a driver-side air bag along with side-guard doors beams to minimize side-impact intru- sion. Also standard are 4- wheel anti-lock brakes, a centre high-mounted stop lamp and child security rear door locks (4-door models). There is also an available remote keyless entry system for improved security. design and a more spaci 7 An erg ically designed redesigned interior. (Note: For 1995, the Blazer drops its “S-” prefix of pre- vious years, with the full- size Chevrolet “K-Blazer” being renamed Tahoe. The full-size GMC _ version remains the Yukon.) Both the Jimmy and Blazer are available as 2- or 4-door models with either 2-wheel or 4-wheel drive. The new Blazer and Jimmy retain the same wheelbase as last year’s models, but fea- ture bodies that are longer, lower and wider to provide a roomier and more usefull interior. Frontseat shoulder room has been increased by about three inches. There’s increased front head and hip room, and behind-the-seat cargo space in the 4-door models is up by 1.6 cubic feet due to relocation of the spare wheel and tire (from inside the cargo hold to an under-floor position). Bending stiffness of the frame has been increased 50 percent, and there’s a 28 per- cent gain in torsional rigidi- ty. These are designed to reduce sqeaks and rattles while providing improved ride and handling. There are five specific suspension packages to choose depend- ing on preferred use. The five packages include “Smooth Ride,” (separate suspension packages for both 2-door and 4-door models); “Touring, Firm Ride,” “Off- road, Very Firm Ride,” (available only on 2-door, 4WD models); and “Premi- um, Smooth Ride,” (avail- able only on 4-door models). A semi-perimeter-type frame with front boxed rails is designed to provide a solid foundation for the five new suspension packages that are suited to a wide range of cus- tomer needs for optimum performance, whether for everyday commuting or seri- “ous off-roading. The “Touring,” “Off-road” and “Premium” suspension packages are equipped with premium gas-pressurized de Carbon or Bilstein monotube shock absorbers that provide exceptional wheel control. The standard front and rear stabilizer bars are among the instrument panel features easy-to-read analog gauges as well as user-friendly con- trols that are easily reached by the driver. Fully adjustable, contoured seats accént a comfortable, quiet interior usually associated with expensive luxury cars. Other new features include semi-flush-mounted glass, ided electronically controlled automatic transmission. A use of t gal steel (except roof), new base- coat/clear-coat paint with new exterior colours, deep- tinted Solar-Ray™ glass, standard air conditioning with CFC-free refrigerant, rear-seat air duct, single, two- sided key for ignition and doors, standard variable-ratio power steering and more. The standard 4.3-litre V6 engine, enhanced for ‘95, fea- tures central port fuel injection with an increase of 30 horse- power (up to 195 hp) over last year’s standard powerplant. It produces 260 lb.-ft. torque at 3400 rpm. A new hydraulic roller lifter camshaft profile provides improved low-end torque for greater “pulling power” and acceleration. Standard with the 4.3-litre V6 engine is GM’s 4-speed new, si h-shifting 5S-speed manual transmission will be available mid-year on 2-door models exclusively. The Jimmy features an ‘electron- ic push button shift transfer case standard on all models. This feature is standard on the uplevel Blazer, optional on other Blazer models. An optional transverse rear cargo cover can be opened and closed without climbing into the vehicle, and two auxiliary 12-volt outlets are available for supplying power for cellular phones and other electronic acces- sories. Also available are leather seating, compact disc players, power windows, door locks and exterior remote mirrors with backlit switches, and intermittent Tear wiper system. 1995 Blazer and duced rear-wheel anti-lock brakes; two years later an all-new 4-door version in either 2WD or 4WD was introduced, along with 4- wheel anti-lock brakes.
