Sbitney of Thrums, passed away Feb. 22 at the age of 63. Funeral service was held Monday and Tuesday at the ' Brilliant Cultural Centre with burial in the Perry Siding Cemetery. Mr. Sbitney was born Sept. 22, 1925 at Verigin, Sask., living there until moving to the Slocan Valley different jobs. In 1945 he moved to Vancouver where he took schooling as a pipe- fitter and worked as a car- penter. It was in Vancouver in 1947 that he married Flor- ence Kazakoff. In 1959 he moved to Penticton where he worked as a carpenter and operated a motel. He came to Castlegar in 1982. He was a member of the USCC, Local 170 of the Pipe- fitters and enjoyed walking and reading. He is survived by his wife, Florence, of Castlegar; two sons, Ed of Ootischenia and Garry of Castlegar; two daughters, Luba Osachoff of Ootischenia and Kathy Veri gin of Raspberry; six grand children; one brother, Harry of Victoria; and two sisters, Helen Popoff of Kelowna and Faye Spicer of Parksville. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Castlegar Funeral Chapel: for Thrums man in 1987. He lived at Apple- dale for 25 years and moved to Thrums in 1976. He married Doris Osachoff on Dec. 26, 1963 at Passmore. During his life he worked as a truck driver. He was a member of the Slocan Valley Choir, USCC, Old Time Fiddlers and the Valleyview Golf Club. He is survived by his wife Doris of Thrums; two sons, Ken of Brilliant and Gary of Edmonton; one daughter, Natalie of Edmonton; two grandchildren; one brother, Pete of Nelson; and one sis- ter, Martha Corbett of Gen- elle. He was predeceased by one brother and one sister. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Castlegar Funeral Chap- el.
