Local Cossacks Goin Voluoble Experience Trail Wins Thanksgiving Tourney By Jerem: ‘The Trail Sonal Rughy Club hosted a tournament on the Thanksgiving weekend, /with teams from Ritzville, Washington State University (Pullman), Douglas College, Rutland, Trail and Castlegar. - The tournament was well organized and included a ‘Thanksgiving lunch for players and their famitles. Trail, being the perfect host, showed great finesse in winning the tourna-, ment with two wins and one raw. The Cossacks squared off against Washington State Uni- versity and held them to a ” scoreless draw in the first half. Penalties, and the superior size * of Washington, proved a bit much for the Cossacks as we allowed them to score 16 un- answered points in the second half. Our second game was against Ritzville who had tied ‘Trail on Sunday. This was our best showing as we managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of . victory by allowing them to kick two penalties, the final ‘score being 12 to 6 in Ritzville’s favor. Pat Post scored for Castlegar, diving in from the five yard line, and Lonnie Powell kicked the two point conversion, Qur third game against Rutland was frustrating. In- experience cost us a couple of penalties that Rutland scored on and while our. offence showed some spirit, we couldn't finish off our scoring opportunt- Selkirk Field Hockey Fay Fodor provided most of the firepower during the weekend as Selkirk College's women’s field hockey team won all three games it played, Her hat trick was the dif- ference in a 3-0 win over Cran- brook. One goal by Fay and another by Theresa McGauley toppled Windermere, 2.0. Selkirk nipped Stanley Humphries Secondary Schoo! 1-0 and again it was Fay Fodor who beat the goalie.
