There were 992 ballots mailed to resi- dents. The rate structure is based on long-term costs of providing EAS Obituary John Woytella On Thursday, April 1, 1993, John Woytella of Castlegar passed away at the age of 80 years. Mr. Woytella was born Jan uary 1, 1913 at Trail, B.C. He grew up in Trail and worked for Cominco for over 45 years. He came to Castlegar in 1950 Mr. Woytella was an avid sportsman and played on the Trail Jr. SmokeEaters Hockey Team when they won the 1931 1932 B.C. Championship over Vancouver. He also enjoyed play ing cards. John was a Life Mem- ber of the Rossland Eagles Lodge and the Trail Elks Lodge Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Rita's Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 6 1993 with Fr. Herman Engerink officiating. Burial was at Park Memorial Cemetery. Encroaching population and environmental changes have left some Bluebirds looking for. new homes, and the Castlegar and District Wildlife Association is helping the birds in their quest With the help of a $1,200 grant from Environment Canada, the Wildlife Association will build 300 Bluebird houses which are to be placed in points from | the Canadian/U.S. border to north of Deer Park. Stu Cull, a Wildlife Associa- tion member, has had Bluebird houses in his yard since 1984 When Cull first put out the 10 houses, he said five out of the ten houses had chicks in’ them, and last year the houses had 46 chicks, Now Cull, Wildlife mem bers and interested public have gathered to build 100 birdhouses in a Bluebird bee Cull said the Wildlife Associa tion has money-—earmarked specifically for the houses We've budgeted to build 300 birdhouses at a total.cost of $10,000.
