OWNER-MANAGERS — Chuck and Kathy Pederson Collins missing money LOS ANGELES (REU- TER) — Dynasty star Joan Collins says in a complaint against Peter Holm, her es- tranged husband and former business manager, that she is missing more than $1 million U.S., said court documents made public in California. Collins filed a divorce and annulment petition Monday against the Swedish busi- nessman, her fourth hus- band, citing irreconcilable differences and alleged fraud as the reasons for ending the 13-month marriage. The 53-year-old actress ob- tained a court order earlier this week prohibiting Holm, \39, from handling her fi nances, saying he had re fused to account for the missing money Collins earns about $1.5 million a year for playing Alexis Carrington in the popular television series. A survey of utility companies indicates residential consumers throughout Central and Western Canada can expect little or no drop in the amount they spend on natural gas, which isn't used as a home-heating fuel in the Atlantic provinces. The end of Nov. | of 11 years of regulated gas prices has resulted in cuts of as much as one-third in the domestic wholesale price as it fell to coincide with an over-supplied world market But many gas distributors are tied to price schedules dictated by provincial regulatory agencies. Other distributors whose schedules are up for review are actually seeking increases. Most of the proposed increases are large enough to offset any short-term savings from deregulation, says Ian MeNabb, president of the Canadian Gas Association, representing producers, distributors and marketers. “There won't be any dramatic change for con. sumers,” McNabb said “But the average Canadian can at least expect there won't be an increase in their gas heating bill this winter.” That's a small consolation for 1.6 million Ontario and Quebec residential gas users, not paying about $6 a thousand cubic feet, who could have expected to be beneficiaries of deregulation. SUPPLY COST CUT Their four distributors — Union Gas, Consumers’ Gas, ICG Utilities and Gaz Metropolitain — have signed a supply agreement with Alberta producers that guaran tees a discount to residential consumers of 21 cents a thousand cubic feet For a homeowner using the average 130 thousand cubic feet annually, the discount represents potential savings of about $25 a year. As Aunt Sylvie, she wears clunky shoes, a drab skirt and a dowdy sweater with plastic... things hanging from it. Her hair is matted. If you like your movie stars glamorous, you'd best look the other way. Producers, however, are looking Lahti’s way. Since her Oscar nomination for an abbreviated role in Swing Shift (she lost out to Peggy Ashcroft) and her bravura performance with Mary Tyler Moore in the soap operish Just Between Friends, Lahti is one of the most-in-demand actresses working today. And it can be argued, one of the best. “I'm getting a lot of scripts, but most of them are mediocre,” says Lahti, 36, passing time between scenes in the trailer that serves as a lunchroom. “I'm offered a lot of parts that have become standard, the female Rambo or dirty Harriets, regular action movies and horror movies with a lot of violence “So far the more conventional, haven't intrested me.” Lahti has not had any time off in the past 10 months, having appeared in a play (Beth Henley's The Lucky Spot), a miniseries (Amerika), an independent feature (Stacking, with Frederick Fotrest and Megan Follows) and now Housekeeping Lahti had planned to take time off in late summer but then Diane Keaton dropped out of Housekeeping and she was offered the role. Lahti read Forsyth’s screenplay and jumped at the chance “This is the kind of movie I want to see,” she says. “I don’t like movies that tell me how to feel and what to think, that spell it all out. I like mystery. I like discovering things. There is so much subtext here, so much going on between the lines. The characters are commercial movies ON LOCATION ... But she adds that the only way for consumers to really protect themselves from credit problems is to be well informed She recommends consumers understand the terms of each of their credit cards and consider all the options available when they buy on credit. She recommends Christmas shoppers make a list of the gifts they want to give, set a price limit, and then shop with cash “If you're shopping with $60 in your pocket for a gift for Mom but you find something for $80 you'll think twice about buying it. But if you're using a credit card, you'll more likely think ‘Oh well, what's an extra $20.
