The importance of is: quite and conceded. Yet it is also quite generally ignored or taken for granted. How often do we stop to think what a tremendously vital] job our teachers are dqing? Do we ever consider the problems our] °- educational system has to face? Do we realize how closely our high’ standard of civilization is linked with our progress in education? To bring these matters to the of every citizen, next week, March 1 to 7 has been set aside as Education Week. The ptirpose of Education week is to remind everyone ‘of the tremendous importance. of Education. As parents and citizens of a democratic country, we determine what sort of schools and educational system we have, Our schools are what we as perents and citizens :make them. Therefore, it is the duty of each one of us to learn as much about education as we can because the, more we know about education — its achievement and .its current problems — the better we shall be able to contri- bute toward its improvement.
