Located at the Hi Arrow in Castlegar, the owners of Brewskies pub have decided to a few changes to their entertainment plans for the sum- mer months. Slocan Sat. - Salmo Hotel lighter country-rock approach when recruiting bands to enter- tain. “We aren't abandoning rock music totally,” said hotel co- owner Evan Shaw, “we just find that Castlegar is more in.tune with a country-rock style of entertainment.” Although the format change is expected to last throughout the summer only, Shaw and other owners are considering cosmetic changes to the bar to accompany the new summer theme Hot Country Nights. “These are still in the changes will be an added plus for patrons,” Shaw continued. Already top country-rock tal- ent is being sought by the folks at The Hi Arrow, and a few quality acts have already signed and are on route to perform at Brewskies. “The artists that are on their way to Castlegar to perform at Brewskies are among the best seen in the Kootenays,” he said. The country-rock gigs begin with a Toronto act known as the Ron Griffin and Cripple Creek band, which will be performing April 8-11. Ron is the front man and has assembled @ quartet that will find it very easy to compete in the club circuit. He is joined with bassist Rob Allen, lead guitar Rhett Belmond, and keeping time in the back is Alex Mahood. The 23-hour BC Parks and Recreation Association (BCRPA) approved course gets underway Friday, April 10, between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. and will continue two Saturdays, April 11 and 25 between 9 am. and 5:30 p.m at the Castlegar Recreation and Aquatic Centre, The course is designed to teach participants how to run Waterfit to Music classes in both shallow and deep water, As well as providing partici- pant with a review of trends in the Waterfit to Music industry the course includes instruction on how to use a variety of exercise ideas, Class formations and safety techniques for warm-up, cardio, strength and endurance and stretching and relaxation.
