The Warriors played two games on the weekend and I didn't get to see either of them. On Friday I bad spent the day in bed getting a little extra rest because during the past few weeks I've been bitting a pretty steady pace on one thing or another. I called Greta Cox at the arena and she helped me out by getting a scol'Hheet for me. The Border Bruins have not bad to much luck in the early going but will probably get back on track as the season progresses. I guess the 12-1 score doesn't leave much to be said about that one. That's 30 goals the Warriors have scored on them now and cert£Jnly boosts their goals-for average. The other weekend game was a squeaker against Trail. The way coach Danny Bradford of Trail was quite eloquent in his description of the game, calling it "beautiful", according to the radio announcer I heard. I didn't know Danny used those kinds of words to describe hockey but that's what he said. Back in the days when he played for the Warriors he was a pretty rugged performer and a darned good one. He reminded me of a former Rossland player when he carried the puck down the right wing and went around the defence. His name was Bud Andrews. He was the smoothest we ever bad in these parts. Hearing that Danny called it "beautiful" came as quite a surprise. You can look forward to more of the same, Dan! Warriors entertain Castlegar on Friday then venture down the hill on Saturday for a game against Trail. Two wins would help their record no end. Now to tell you about our opening days curling, I found out one thing for sure. I must get in some practice shooting because I realized I have lost Rt' shooting power. Actually, what I have done is become a little bit leery of falling and the only way to get over that is practice. Get out and get my shooting arm back in shape and get over the jitters. I think I made two reasonable shots out there all game and that sure didn't help us against Norman Harry. We lostl0-5. · All games went on as scheduled and I'll try to get my delivery back in shape. I will say this thought, the boys seemed to be enjoying themselves. It'll get better as the season progresses. We have a full slate of games so every one plays everybody else once, all with at least one afternoon game. Each rink plays nine games to complete our first competition. Ray Keane, Bill Dobbs, myself, Joe Rosse and Bob Stevenson make up our rink. When we all get familiar I don't think we'll do to badly. Myself, along with Joe Rosse, Rich Watkinson and Phil Bateman, are the draw committee. I think things will run fairly smooth once we get underway and some of the kings get ironed out. The Rossland Legion now bas a copy of a specially prepared tape made to show at the local schools the Legion's role in the war years. President Stinson told me this is going to form part of our Nov. 11 Remembrance Day Service in the branch. Our service will commence at 10 a.m. instead of 10:30 a.m. to allow it to be fully shown at this time. The production will also be shown to the school children in their individual classrooms to take the place d the usual guest speaker from Branch #14. I hope you have caught the message on Town and Country. I was told to put it in on two or three occasions and have passed this order along to the paper. I hope that we shall have a good number out for our march to the Cenotaph this year. It is usually pretty good. Now with that I think I'll close with the usual 'Til next time, then.
