QSA model to keep
Canada competitive

MGroup attempts to keep
Canada on cutting edge

: The Quality Service Al-
liance model has attracted the
attention of the Steering
Group of Prosperity — a pri-
vate sector task force on the
future economic and social
well-being of Canada.

This has resulted in an in-
vitation to Gerry Ehman, one
of the developers of the QSA,
to attend a national confer-
ence June 22 and 23 in Toron-
to whose theme is “What
would it take for Canada to be-
comé a world leader in quali-
ty?” ,

: “To have our Quality Ser-
vice Alliance model recognized
in this way, underscores it’s
validity as an effective means
of keeping consumer’s dollars
in the region,” said Ehman,
who serves in an advisory ca- -
pacity to the co-ordinating
committee which is comprised
of representatives of Greater

‘ Trail Community Futures,

Employment Canada, the
Chamber of Commerce and
the Trail City Centre Associa-
tion.

: The Toronto conference is
inviting delegates represent-

ing a spectrum of Canadian
leaders and subject experts —
in quality and in the subject
areas.

Participants will work in
groups of 10-12 people to scru-
tinize topics such as private
sector competitiveness, labor-
management relations, uti-
lization of new technologies,
education system, training in
the workplace, government
roles and community roles.

Recommendations generat-
ed by the conference task
forces will go immediately to
the steering group, who began
writing an action plan in July.

Their report will be re-
leased in September and will
be presented by the Hon.
Michael Wilson, Minister of
International Trade, and the
Hon. Bernard Valcourt, Minis-
ter of Employment and Immi-
gration, to cabinet.

“An invitation of this na-
ture confirms that we are on
the right track when we
sharpen our focus on quality
service and quality product,”
Ehman said.

“I am honored to receive
this recognition and hope that
I can make a contribution to
this national forum.” ;
