So brave the weather and plan to come down to the pool for some exercise and fun. Season passes are now on sale. Public swim ming happens Monday - Friday 3:30 5 p.m., Monday, Wednesday and Fri- day 7 - 8:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 - 8 p.m. Master Swimming Master swimming started last week and is being run by the Aqua- nauts swim coaches. It happens Tuesday and Thursday from 8 - 9 p.m. and there is a $2 drop-in charge. Improve your swimming strokes and get into shape this summer with masters. Brochures Out Seon Our summer swim, fitness and program brochures will be available the week of June 20. Registration for our summer swim classes will start Monday, June 27 from 6 - 7 p.m. in the complex hall. Brochures will be distributed through the school and as well they can be picked up at the recreation office. So keep your eyes open for all our summer action. Classes Fitness classes are happening five days a week at the complex hall. At. has been great, so plan to take in a morning or evening class. Morning classes are Monday, Wed- nesday, Friday from 9 - 10 a.m., evening classes happen Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 7 - 8 p.m. Aqua Fit classes will resume July 4 at the Bob Brandson Pool. So all you Aqua Fit participants get ready for water action in July. Rollerskating happens Friday from 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. on the dry floor of the arena. We have had great attendance at the sessions. So keep coming — it's Friday night action you won't want to miss. Carrie passes away Christina (Jean) Carrie of Castle- gar died at her home June 3 after a lengthy illness. She was 81. Mrs. Carrie was born Aug. 24, 1907 in West Germany and emigrated to Saskatchewan in 1908. She lived in various places in Saskatchewan and Alberta before moving to Prince Rupert in 1953. She was employed at Prince Rupert General Hospital for many years. She married Ezra Muma in 1925. Following his death she married William Douglas Carrie in 1966. They retired to Castlegar in 1974. She was an avid dancer and bridge player and a member of the Castlegar Senior Citizens’ Association. She is survived by her three daughters, Joyce Wray of Parksville, Lois Grey of Campbell River, and Shirley Ann Dickson of Castlegar; We know there are people who enjoy doing things the old-fashioned way. The Insurance Corp. of B.C. in- vited all schools in the province to submit an entry describing traffic safety projects undertaken to make the roads a safer place. All entries for the Kootenay area were evaluated and judged on May 19 at the ICBC Traffic Safety Educ- ation office in Nelson by Const. Roy Pagliaro of. the Cranbrook RCMP detachment, Caroll Fitzgerald, own- er of Advantage Gallery in Nelson and Kay Johnston, ICBC District Manager, Traffic Safety Education department. ICBC Traffic Safety representa- tives will be presenting a $300 cash award to the school over the next four weeks. Winners will also receive an engraved plague and an awards certificate to display in their school. The School Traffic Safety Awards Program is a province-wide amhual program designed to encourage stu- dent participation in school and com- munity traffic safety activities. The program is co-ordinated by ICBC for the British Columbia government. Funeral for Gray Ellen Laverne Gray of Castlegar passed away Thursday, June 2 at the age of 88. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, at 11 a.m. at the Castlegar Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ted Bris tow officiating. Cremation. Mrs. Gray was born Jan. 29, 1900 at Johnstown, North Dakota and grew up in Manitoba. She married William Gray in 1921 at Woodnorth, Man. She and her husband lived in Manitoba until 1966 when they moved to Blueberry Creek. She was a member of the Castlegar senior citizens, a Jife member of the Cromere, Manitoba Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed knitting. She is survived by two sons, James of Brandon, Man. and Robert of i . Sask.; three daughters, Aud rey Buchanan of Rosemere, Que., Wilma Frost of Castlegar and Beth Miller of Lucan, Ont; 14 grandchil dren; 21 great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas Barr of Flin Flon, Man. and sister, Christine Beckwith of Troy, Mich.
