At tines it appears that wrong would triumph over right, but the right must eventually win, The trouble between the RecorD and the printers was no fault of ours. The power of a few mali- cious men who are unscrupulous enough to use a labor union to accomptish an unlawful and unjust end, is practially illustrated by the apparent progress of 14 printers in Rossland. Men who | | al ‘ have not, and probably never will pay accent of taxes have been able to go before the city council and get through a resolution discriminating against the “ % Recor in the matter of city printing. KNEW THEY COULD NOT WIN. The following is tho appeal prepared for A.J. Brill and Theolore Rusch at their instance and request which would no doubt have been sent forward had they not beee pursuaded or intimidated. There is but little doubt but that it would have won, and that is what the local printer’s union was afraid of. As stated previously Mr. Brill was taken hack into the union and given money to leave Rossland and The Recorp office witnout notice. Last night itis fair to presume that Mr. Rusch was induced todo the same thing for he failed to show up for work this morning. . ROOM TWENTY, TRADERS BLOCK,| AN, Avrean to Wm. B. We would not advise any man to land here ‘‘broke” without friends, although many who have done so are doing well. This camp: is now settlng down on a business basis. The populace i not only in i mines and conducting: the busi- ness of the town, but are buying. or bonding and developing min- ing property; buying and gelling real estate; building bouses for rental purposes, prospecting and staking prospectors. Many are here simply lookingon in won- derment. We believe it will go on and on until Rossland “can boast of.a population of 50,000. After that it will probably settle down to a proposition of a pay roll but not for a few years. There are’ plenty of money here from all sections of the globe; but the principal investors are from the United States, with Canada largely interested. The history of the camp reads like a fairy tale, and the fabulous richeeare scarcely excelled by the imaginary “Kiog Solomon’s Mines,” We will not attempt to discussthe mines in asingle ar-~ ticle, aswe have been writing about them for nearly three years and have not been able to keep up with them. The ore ship- ments speak for themselves. ‘The town has won an enviable reputation for law and order, It jis supplied with waterworks and electric lights. ‘The main street is giaded and ten blocks are built up with two and three-story busi- nesshouses. ‘ For further information come and see for yourself, or subscribe for the Damy or WEEKLY Second and Lincoln Sts.
