Montreal, Jan. 19.—The new body of mounted rifles to be raised in Canada at the expense of Lord Strathcona, Canadian high commis- sioner at London, will be known as Strathcona’s Horse. It will be got together by the military department and forwarded to South Africa from Halifax, but Lord Strathcona will meet the entire expense and will furthermore maintain the troops in South Africa during the continuance of the war. It will cost Lord Strath- cona not Jess than a round million dollars.
