By STEPHEN NICHOLL LOS ANGELES (CP) — He’s a baby-faced millionaire, a five-foot-four sex symbol, a thoroughly Canadian all-American boy: Michael Andrew Fox, Michael J. Fox As stars go, he blazes white hot, with some industry expert’s claiming he’s the No. | box-office draw in Hollywood these days. His appeal will soon be put to the test with his latest film, Casualties of War, which opens Aug. 18. Fox stars as a rookie soldier in Vietnam opposite a hard-nosed, battle- wise sergeant played by Sean Penn. And, gosh darn it, if Fox isn’t jut the nicest guy you'd ever want to meet It’s a sweltering day at Universal Studios, where Fox is filming the sequel to his mega-hit Back to the Future. In fact, he starts filming the sequel to the sequel (the “trequel,’’ he calls it) next month. Fox limps into his dressing-room trailer behind a barn- shaped soundstage — he’s limping because he’s girded with a steel-reinforced stunt harness that rides heavily across his groin. (Ouch!) Nonetheless, he offers a warm, albeit pained MICHAEL J. FOX . . ‘Tl always be a Canadian’ smile and a firm before hastily behind acurtain to shed the device. He’s the kind of 28-year-old American. Hey, if you're a lumberjack, you gotta go to wtiere the forest is. And 10 years ago, if you were an 18. year-old high school dropout and you wanted to make movies you had to come here. “T'll always be a Canadian. It’s a fabulous calling card, being Canadian .. . I've always thought it was very funny when people were talking about me as the all American boy — shades of Mary Pickford.”” The man’s on top of the world right now.
