You have to thank the Ld•' Afternoon Curling Club for a lot of what loel up in the form of decorations. By the way, they make ev.-yone of time by band, except the bllloom. But you have to also thank the Trall ladiea, of their ladiea club who come up to enjoy the bolpltallty and the competition. They know they will always 1et up here, they love it and we love them for their competitive spirit. Without that the Winter Wonderland Bonlpiel wouldn't be any different from a number of time others around the country. .. Now I must offer my very sincere tbanb to Beryl Davis, who, along , with her curling still manaced to 1et all this information toaether for me. Thank you Beryl Beryl ii public relations rep for her club and also pu8ed along the following: The Smart Trophy Ccxnpetition, just completed, was what they called a kitten competition, that is, the thirds do the skipping and it came out as follows: Dottie Albo came first, teamed with Mara Rosse, Jessie Skinner and Bernie Brandt. Irene Dunlop was next with Fanny Albo, Mery Vickers and Louise stevenson. They continue with a new competition. Moving over to another sport, on Saturday afternoon at the Lelfon, our sports officer, Dennis Hirons, put on a mixed dart tournament that attracted fourteen doubles teams from around the Kootenays. When the smoke cleared two Rossland teams bad reached a playoff spot. They were Kim GUlies and Quentin Delio who were successful in a playoff to decide an over-all winner, Darrell Morrow and bis wife Mickey were also in the battle to win all the marbles. In a tournament run off prior to the doubles was a singles event hlld to decide a Kooteaay singles winner to proceed to Kamloops to take part in the Provincial finals. A stOCQ dark-haired 1ent names Allan Lester of Fernie was the succeaful participant in that one, beating out four other Kootenay upiranta to the title. Lesater was quite impl'euive, a po•e•or of superb balance and an acellent delivery, be abould make a fine rep of the Kootenays in ICarnJoops. He also participated in the doubles tourney partnered by a yoq man named Martyn Tyler. With that I think I'll say, 'Til oat time, then!
