‘The bride wore a gown of lace over silk featuring a
Victorian neckline and a headdress of baby’s breath in her
hair. She carried a-bouquet of pink roses cascading with
white pearls.

Pastor Ira Johnson performed the ceremony and
Mrs. Joan Marks played the Wedding March.

The bride was given in marriage by her father.

Her sister; Mrs. Pat Stewart of Robson, was matron
of honour. Mrs. Stewart wore an afternoon-length dress
of pink and silver silk and carried a bouquet of pink roses.

Robert McCreight of Castlegar was the best man and
Gary Bartlett, also of Castlegar, was the usher.

Artist Elaine Campbell will
present an origami workshop
in Castlegar om Friday at
Kinsmen Park.

The event will take place
at 10 a.m. The workshop is
sponsored by the Castlegar
Recreation Department in
conjunction with the Castle-
gar Arts Council and the
Kootenay Lake’ Arts Cele-
bration.

Origami is the traditional _

art of Japanese paper fold-
is. This ancient craft has
mused children and adults

alike. In Japan, it is practiced
in the home by parents and is
started in the preschools to
improve dexterity in a crea-
tive way.

A variety of objects can te 4

made by folding a square of
paper. A bird flapping wings,
a rabbit, a mouse, a whole
ocean of fish including a
spouting whale and many
more objects.

Campbell will tell Japanese
folk stories in the old way,
using a story board. There is

Mauve chrysanthemums decorated “the: front of St.
Peter's Lutheran Church on May 18 as Melvin Walter Miller
and Connie Maria Soares, both of Castlexar, were joined in
matrimony.

The bride's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Tony Soares of
Castlegar. The groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Walter
Larue also of Castlegar.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father,

veil belonged to the bride's stepmother and she also wore
her stepmother’s necklace.

She carried a bouquet of yellow roses with mauve baby
roses and baby’s breath.

Rev. Terry Moore officiated and organist Mrs. Ferworn
played the musical selection, “The Rose.”

. Maid of honor was Maryanne Grunerud of Castlegar
and the bridesmaids were Carol McCreight of Delta and
Joanne Baker of Castlegar.

> ‘The attendants, who carried bouquets of baby mauve
and yellow roses with baby’s breath, wore high-necked
dresses with three-quarter length sleeves. The dresses were
made of mauve-colored dotted Swiss material and tied at the
back.

Cal Grunerud of Castlegar was best man and the ushers
were Dale and Merle Miller of Castlegar.

A reception at Castlegar’s Fireside Inn followed the
wedding. The room was decorated with lavender and white
flowers with bells.

The_three-layer wedding cake featured
flowers and silver leaves.

: The master of ceremonies at the reception was Roy
McGregor of Calgary and Wayne McCreight made the toast
to the bride.

The. newlyweds honeymooned in Kelowna and now
reside in Castlegar.
