It now appears that a stralght forward explanation’ is at hand, In recent years observers of the Meadow Creek spawn- ing channel beeamé accus- tomed to seeing ‘over one million spawners each year. The large number of fish for Hunters apply for limited entry “ Limited entry hunting” - will be expanded in B.C. this year asa management tool to more closely manage big game species within certain areas of the province. This licence procedure requires a sportsman select a specific species of ie game and a particular area in which to hunt. He then applies for a special licence for that area. The hunter's application is entered into a computer with all others who ‘wish to hunt the same area. ‘The computer then ran- domly selects the desired “number ‘of, applications. in accordance with the limits set by the Fish and Wildlife Branch. Successful applicants will then receive licences prescribing where, when and what they may hunt. All special hunts for big game in B.C. will be handled ¥ this procedure. : All applications must be received in the Victoria office of the fish and wildlife branch by June 16, 1981.
