The emphasis in these services will be on the creative, the selfexpressive and the informal. A variety of verbal and non-verbal, musical, and artistic techniques may be used, along with some of the more traditional expressions of worship. It is hoped that those whe would find such approaches helpful will come and partici- pate. The first service is being planned by Ted Bristow and Fr. Bill Harrison, but it is hoped that others will take part in planning ond leading these services, Everyone is welcome. For further information, contact Fr. Harrison or Rev. Bristow, Discuesion Groups Readers are reminded of several groups for study and sharing being held throughout the parish. - A Thursday morning group meeting in homes in Castlegar North is studying the life of Jesus in the Gospel of Mark. The Tuesday evening fire- sides at the parish house are open to discuss a variety of topics. . There is also a Tuesday noon-hour bible study being held at Selkirk College. For information on any of these opportunities, call Ted Bristow, at 865-8387 or 365-7814. Potluck Supper St. David's Anglican Church Women celebrated the Christmas season with a pot- luck supper in the underecroft in place of the regular December meeting. Husbands and friends were also present with the Rev. Bob Griffiths, as a special guest, The tables were-attractive with candles and holly and the serving tables were laden with delicious casseroles, salads and deserts to provide an ample meal for all. On behalf of the group, ACW president Mrs. K. John- son presented a framed picture to Mr. Griffiths as a gift of appreciation with the best wishes of all for his continued health and happiness in the new year, Mr. Griffiths responded with his grateful thanks and good wishes. Following the meal, J. F. Killough showed lovely slides belonging to Mr. Griffiths cov- ering some of the oldest church- es in southern Alberta, with special emphasis on their beau- tiful, stained glass windows. These were followed by some of Mr. sie own pictures including scenes from the region, as well as views of past church activities at St. David's and also of St. Paul's Cathedral, Regina, which was originally built by Mr. Kil- lough’s grandfather; the first couple to be married in this church on completion being Mr. Killough’s parents in February, Christmas Eve Service The Christmas Eve Com- munion Service in traditionally Anglican form, conducted by the Rev. R. R. Griffiths was very well attended by members of both congregations. The church had been beau- tifully decorated prior to the service by members of the altar guild, with lovely, white chrysanthemums given by Mrs. W. F. Davie; and two large, red, poinsettia plants from the United Church 3¥omen adding much to the beauty of the church and provided just the right setting for this joyous, religious festival, Special Christmas music under the direction of choir leader Mrs, Marion Booth was rendered by the choir with Mrs, F..A, Hostetter at the organ with the congregation joining in for the signing of many of the dear, familiar carols and hymns. St. David's Thrift Shop St. David's Thrift Shop resumed operations Jan. 6, after a two-week closure for the Christmas holidays. The new work schedules for the next three months have been mailed to the mem- bers. Anyone who has not received a copy is asked to please telephone 965-7554 or 365-5691. To their many patrons, and to those who so generously support the project with dona- ‘ons of clothing, ete., St. David’s Thrift Shop members extend sincere wishes for health, happiness and prosper- ity in 1976. Parish House Renovations A noticeable improvement has taken place at the parish house during the past two months, including fresh paint ‘on walls ‘and ceilings through- out, except for the living room in which the walls were re-done in wood panelling and the floor carpeted. A new hot-water tank was also installed, replacing the old one which had been inoperative for some months, Open House The added comfort and warmth of the newly-decorated parish house was appreciated and commented upon by mem- bers of both Anglican and United congregations when they attended the “Open House,” hosted by the Rev. Bob Griffiths and the Rev, and Mrs. Ted Bristow on the evening of Dec. 30, 1975. SAM'S EUR %; 1001 . 9th Ave., South Castlegar PHONE 365.7319 - ALIVE WITH OUR LOW, LOW PRICES! Ut GtsieeracenrEe. CARS. Gives Its Thanks Dear Sir: At this season one reflects over events of the past year and always high among them ; stands your wonderful support. C.A.R.S. “is particularly proud to have played host this year to a group of American doctors accompanied by other health care professionals who chose our B.C. program to study in setting up a National Arthritis Commission in the United States. The chairman of the study group stated publicly that the members came to C.A.RS. because it had developed the outstanding prototype of a far- reaching program and because of its long history of treating arthritis and the great deal of success it had enjoyed. We did not aclfieve this reputation alone. Thousands of British Col- umbians through their volun- teer help and support made it possible. Your paper, through its community awareness, and the staff dedicated to reporting the “news of the area, are responsi- le also, because you have ble ye re helped make our work known to those who require special- ized medical treatment for arthritis and their stories have reached supporters and volun- teers who have responded so willingly to our needs. All of us at C.A.RS. are most grateful to you and would like your readers to know how very much we appreciate your assistance. Roberta McLeod, Executive Director, The Canadian Arthritis and Rheumatism Society B.C. Division. Similar. ly, courses in business statistics and economics. are being of- fered during the evenings in Trail for the same reasons. In another instance, a course in organization and management will be held at the Vocational School in Nelson, Mr. Ketchum went on to stress the department's plans to provide a higher level of service by offering courses in population centres where the public will find it'more conven- ient to attend. "We will continue to ex.” pand, adapt, and decentralize our programs to the extent that there is adequate demand for our services.
