She stars in the NBC series as.a young widow who, with her three children, has moved in with her late husband's father. Grandpa, played by Wilford Brimley, is ing of a cur to give up his privacy, yet affectionate and caring toward the children. The show airs Sundays at 7 p.m. EST, the hour set aside for news and information shows, such as CBS’ 60 Minutes, or family programming such as ABC's Disney Sunday Movie. “I get kissed in an episode in February,” Hall said. “But it’s not a romance that's going anywhere. It's a tropical flirtation. “The family wins a trip to Hawaii, and while we're there I meet a pilot. For people used to Marlena's passionate love affairs, it may be mild.” ON NBC's Days of Our Lives, Hall played psychia trist Dr. Marlena Evans Brady. She was voted Soap Opera Digest's Best Actress for five consecutive years and was voted most popular by Daytime TV magazine for 108 straight months. FALLS VICTIM A few years ago, when it appeared her character had fallen victim to the Salem Strangler, anxious callers jammed the NBC switchboards on both coasts. Hundreds picketed the network's studios in Bur. bank. As it turned out, the victim was her twin sister, played by Hall's real twin sister, Andrea Lovell. Hall didn’t leave the soap until Our House was renewed for a second season. “I love daytime and I loved my character,” she said. “But I did want to do nighttime television, too, Until we were sure Our House was a hit, I didn't want to leave daytime, “Then, when we were picked up for a second year, NBC made the decision for me to leave the soap. “My feelings were real mixed, I did both shows for a full season, which was an exhausting schedule. I knew I couldn't go on much longer. “It was like leaving home,” she said, “What made it easy was going to a place I love as much as Our House.” Marlena was written out of Days of Our Lives by having her disappear in a plane crash. That, of course, leaves the door open for a return. Hall believes most of her fans have followed her to prime time. “They are supportive, but miss the constancy of an hour every da: “They also miss the passionate story lines Marlena had. She was also noted for her Lunchbreaks, luncheon get-togethers for her fans that have attracted up to 2,500 people. She has not yet decided whether to hold another one this year. Last year Hall wrote a script for Our House about the anniversary of her late husband's 40th birthday. It was turned down by the producers. She wrote another script that the producers bought and she hopes it will be filmed as a Valentine's Day show for next year. Her script, called She'll Always Be a Girl to Me, was co-written with Cheri Ingram, who is also one of her partners in video resume company called Customs Last Stand. Mary Hart of Entertainment Tonight is the other partner, When Our House stops filming for the season, Hall said, she will write a movie screenplay. “It's so odd having time off after 11 years,” she said. “On the soap we never had any time off.” She said she has received encouragement in her writing from producer Bill Blinn, who wrote the much-honored TV movie Brian's Song, parts of Roots and produced Fame. Hall is married to Michael Dubelko, president of Cannell Studios. Firm helps new songwriters NASHVILLE, Tenn. She died Monday shortly after arriving at Children's Hospital of San Diego, her agent David Wardlow said Tuesday. The cause of death was re. lated toa bowel blockage she evidently had from birth, the San Diego County coroner's office said. O'Rourke died Monday afternoon during an opera tion that was complicated when she suffered shock. “Septic shock is not un common in infections,” said man for Children’s Hospital She said septic shock in volves bacteria getting into the bloodstream. The firm critiques up to four songs per client every three months and takes the best of them to record producers in an effort to get them re corded. The company has 100 clients, including doctors, lawyers, engineers, car deal ers and others with the dream of writing songs. “We're their representa. tive on Music Row,” says co- founder Johnny Slate, a vet. eran songwriter as is Morri son. The clients get a kit con taining a membership certifi: cate, a booklet titled Song writing From the Inside Out and a pamphlet listing 15 steps known as “the hit formula.” After the clients mail in hit, Blaze of Glory. A recent critique to a client in Chesapeake, Va., said: “Try to experiment with some different tempos.” Another said: “Try to work in some minor and seventh chords into the verses in the chorus only. It might make them stand out from each other a little more.” A song titled Station to Station will be recorded by country music singer Dean Dillon. It was written by Ian Kemp of Nashville, a client of the firm and an aspiring composer. Singer Anne Murray is considering recording I Can't Say No, written by API clients Andy Spooner and Bob Samples of Gallatin, Tenn. “We have 12 or 13 mem- bers (clients) capable of writ- ing hit songs and another 50 on the fence,” said Morrison. Songs on API's “pitch list” includes one titled Uncertain Hurtin’ and Cold Day in My Heart. “We believe we can teach people to write commercial GREEN OR RED CABBAGE B.C.
