At least it does in the lightning-quick lineup of the Calgary Stampeders who have got off to a blazing start in their bid to repeat as first-place finishers in the CFL West. Even without injured receiv- er-kick returner Derrick Craw- ford, the Stampeders have a set of pass receivers thet are the envy of aieronk gens team in the leagui Allen Pitts, Demetrius (Pee Wee) Smith, Mark Guy and Shawn Beals cause defences sleepless nights. This unit can score from anywhere on the field. “What we like best about our team is our team speed, says Calgary coach Wally Buono. “We have speed all over the field, not just at receiver.” But it’s the pass catchers who make defenders play softly, almost in fear of the expected. Calgary is averaging 43.5 points per game and this week the unbeaten Stamps play an Ottawa team that has allowed 75 points in two games. Even without Crawford, who is recovering from a serious ankle .injury, the Calgary offence shouldn’t miss a stride during his absence.
