All the laborers at Blue’s sawmill are out on a strike. They demand jan increase in their wages of 25 cents per day, and insist on better board than they have been getting in the past. The most serious feature of the trouble is its possible effect on the mines of the camp. Practically every property around Rossland. depends upon the Blue mill for the thousands of feet of timber used ‘daily underground. Only a limited quantity of lagging is kept on hand, and the strike, if it lasts for any length of time, would cause much inconvenience to the mine owners, The walk-out occurred yesterday morning, and about 4o'or 50 -men quit when the management refused to raise the scale. On the previous evening a deleyation of the work- men held a meeting in the Beatty building when it was decided to call all the laborers out unless their de- mands were acceded to, The scale in the past has - been $2.25 per day of ro’hours and the men have paid $5 for board. ..That gave them $8.50 net per week, and the board according to their stories, was abominable. They want $2.50 THIRD TRIAL A FAILUBE. Lack of Wind Prevents a Finish in Yacht Hace. As usual the Le Roi, like Abou Ben Adam, “‘led all the rest.” It sent down to Northport 2,496 tons of ‘ore which comes close to being a record with the big mine. Its neighbor on the north, the War Eagle, is credited with, 1,767 tons, which is slightly under the output of last week.
