Other organizations -I.0.D.E., Ganadian Legion and
the Anglican Church expressed keen: interest but were
unable to attend due’ to meetings or other business.

fhe meeting then formed itself: into Education Week
Committee in which Mr. Thomas vas elected chairman and
Mr. Charters, secretary.

The committee was then asked to seteninttie if their
organization would be willing to sponeor, and notify the
secretary of their decision.

Plans were then mede for Bducaticn feok itself. It was
first decided to draw attention ‘to’ the: spiritual aspects
of education by asking the clergymen - of: the various
churches to announce the event in their Sunday addresses
The Reverend Mr. Horricks readily: announced his willing-

the plans of tha High School and elementary schools. Mr
Santano ennounedd the public: speaking contest sponsored
by: ‘the Knights of Pythias, open to any high school
student, it leads through district, interdistrict, j
provincial and ‘national competition to a $2500 scholar-
ship. ‘The first. contest, will be held in Castlegar, on.
the Friday of education weék.and since competition with-
in. the- High School is keen, it should be a fine contest
Mr: Santano added that the local body is offering cash
prizes ‘for first and second place in this contest.
Other: excellent suggestion which rose out of the
discussion ineluded a@ panel discussion, speakera, games

could supply refreshments to thé visitors at the
Elementary School. The latter suggestion was heartily

endorsed immediately, while the latter, after discussion ca
|presented limitations of space and time, were placed inal

the. minutes for consideration on next year's Education ©
Week. .

Gopies of the Education Week program as drewn up by
the Education Week Committee will be sent out by the
Public Relations ‘Committee of the arhind ad District
Teachers’ Association.

" The fine attendance at the meeting is a ‘definite
indication of the growing interest.in education in this |
area and does credit to those public spirited organiza-
tions which serve it so Welle Education is looking up
