Rich Ore Struck in the Old Tun- nel, Friday morning, says the Nelson Miner, the news quickly spread through Nelson that a big strike had bad been made in the, Silver King mine. It wae first supposed that a large. ore body had been discovered in the long tunnel which is being driven on the lower levels. Inquiries at the. mine, however, proved that such is not the case. The development of the old tunnel is responsible for the dis- covery. It is said that the ore lu'ely house them. It isexpected the plaot will be in running order in about six weeks. Electrivity will furnish the motive power. The machine shops will be able to do custom work. J. E. McCarthy. the grocery man, is in Robson on business. The Trail brought down a large list of passengers last night. A wallet containing a- number cf papers found on the street yesterday is at the Arlington hotel awaiting the owner, The new engine at the smelter ha been put in place and One of the blast furnaces has been blown in. Good Showing Made by the Little Giant and Big lroh. - The Little Gient mise, in. the Pierre’s lake district, on the reserva- tion, hasbeen developing the ledge along the entire vein this winter and has one of the best showings aleng t! e Kettleriver. Atadepth of 58 feet the vein has widened out from four and a half feet at the surface to nearly seven feet at the bottom of the shaft and the assays run all the. way from $40 to $400 in gold to the ton, with a showing in-copper. The development of the Little Ciant to the proportions ofa shipping mine has had a. good effect on this camp. In that section ‘known’ as the Big fron, which is mostly controlled by Spokane capital, some wonderful die- coveries have been made. These two localities are within from 12.to 14 miles of the Spokene Falls & North- ern railway, and it is now. apparent that a line of tramway will have to be built in to accommodate the traffic of that camp. —= > MINING ACTIVITY.
