Race a dif- ferent dimension when it takes place this Saturday at 1 p.m. with last year's champion being the B.C. Tet entry. A spokesman for the RCMP sponsored event stated the strong interest - shown in the event indi- cates there will be a good showing of entries. u The race will start at the lights at the intersec- tion of Columbia Avenue and Sixth Street and finish at the intersection of Col- umbia Avenue and Seventh Street. Rules for the Castlegar SunFest '80 Bed Race are as follows: (1) Contestants must be employees of the busi- ness placing an entry into the race, one or more small businesses may form together in order to have enough participants to enter a bed. : (2) Contestants must wear sleeping attire or other costumes. (3) Entries must be from within the ‘hrea of School District No. 9. (4) Only business firms, service clubs, service organizations, labor organizations, civic organizations and pro- fessional services may enter. (S) The race will be held from the lights at the intersection of Colum- bia Avenue and Sixth Street (Oglow Build- ing) to former Koot- enay Builders building corner of Columbie Avenue Seventh t. Final heats will be run back along the same route. (6) Beds are to be manu- ally pushed by a min- imum of four persons to a maximum of six. Those persons will be the only persons to push the bed through- out the race. You can * lose two pushers with- out being disqualified. There cari be no relay system during the tace. Pushers in the race must be pushing at all times and are not allowed to ride on the -bed during the race to push periodically. (7) Each bed must be oc- cupied by two persons who must ride under the top sheet during the race. (8) All beds are to be entered in the SunFest Parade and pushed by the same persons as Penny Carnival offers variety for children Join in the spirit of Castlegar SunFest '80 by attending the Penny Car- nival festivities this Friday. The Recreation staff has organized many events including a waterballoon throwing contest, a water- melon eating contest, re- lays, booths, new games and much, much more. The carnival is open to all children in the commun- ity ages 4 to 12 and will be held from 10:30 to 1:30. The wading pool will also be in operation for lots of - water fun. Bed © face committee ruling final will be B + (9) All beds will report to area of Oglow Build- ing for inspection one- half hour prior to race times, (10) Bed regirements as follows: Beds must be a minimum of three feet wide to a maxi- mum six feet wide and maximum eight feet long. Wheels’ maxi- mum 21 inches outside diameter. Must be constructed from bed frame which includes headboard, footboard, full size spring and mattress..
