In making the announce- ment, Hugh Curtis, munici- pal affairs and housing minis- ter, said “Through an amend- ment to the Mobile Home Tax Act, some 14,000 addi- tional mobile home owners on rented land will be eligible for the home owners grant.” Amendments also estab- lish a procedure for exempting homes from the mobile home act if they become permanently affixed or cease their resi- dential use. The mobile home registry opened its doors on April 1, 1978, and has received a tre- mendous response from mobile home owners throughout the province. Registrations exceed 15,000; 750 transfers of owner- ship have occurred; 500 secur- ity instruments have been registered; and 1,200 transport permits issued. ‘ The registry has encount- ered some problems in the pro- cessing of initial sales from the manufacturers, through dealers to the purchasers. These par- ticularly affect the financing of these transactions and the cash flow through the industry. Curtis met with repre- sentatives of the industry and financial. institutions in late May to discuss these problems, and a further meeting was held between industry represent- atives and staff the following week, A to the act Pensions, Other Benefits Increase this Month Increases in the Old Age Security pension, Guaranteed Income Supplement and Spouse's Allowance, effective pension, is limited.
