The familiar carols of Christmas are beginning to be heard. Store fronts are decorated with all the colors and good cheer of the season. And, who knows? Maybé winter will come back to our area and leave the earth blanketed in the pure white of fresh fallen snow just in time to make the Christmas holiday complete. There is another side of Christmas which we all know and some of us feel more keenly than the i to be sold out. Christmas trees have to be obtained and decorated. Traveling plans must be finalized or the house must be made ready for visiting friends and rel- atives. Big Christmas dinners must be planned and shop- ping done for them. There are special programs and services to plan and attend. Shopping to be.done the last minute for a forgotten gift. “And on every street corner you hear Help! Whatever happened to “Peace on Earth, Good Will to Men?” Maybe the beauty of Chris is hing we above. Christmas is a very busy time which seems to tap our personal energy sources until sometimes we feel we are having our own private energy crisis. Christmas cards have to be in the mail by a certain day or else they will. be a little .early for next year. Christmas presents have to be decided upon and then redecided upon when what was decided upon was found force on ourselves and our families, The first Christmas in Bethlehem nearly 2,000 _years ago was not a night filled with colored lights, and beautiful carols. Jesus was obrn in a barn, not kept comfortable and nice for humans, but just a shelter for the animals. Yet the shepherds that night, as the wise men later on, were not concerned with outward details but under- stood the true beauty of the event. Christ is born. The Messiah has come. Imman- uel, God is with us. So the shepherds and wise men worshipped the Christ child who would restore man to the fellowship with God that He had intended from the beginning of time. So Chris- tians for 20 centuries have worshipped this Christ and shown their joy through giving gifts as God gave us His own Son. Through beau- tiful music joyfully telling the story and its meaning. Through cheerfully decor- ating their homes and busi- nesses to show the merry feeling of being an adopted son of God. Being made an heir to eternal life, all be- cause of that lowly event which began in Bethlehem so long ago: the life and death of Jesus Christ, Lord and Sa- vior of the world. Without the true mean- ing of Christmas the beauty of Christmas is forced on it from the outside rather then welling up from the inside of each and everyone of us. May the true Merryment of Christmas be yours this year. * . . A log loader oprator, experienced on grapple 966 and familiar with species is needed in Harrop. * * .
