AUCTION GOERS . . . Sixty-seven women attended a silent auction at the Sandman
Inn put on by the Castlegar Christian Women’s Club.

Sandman Inn, which featured

sang and played the guitar,

while Calgarian Rita Spring-
er was the guest inspirational

speaker.

Women's Club meeting is at
7:30 p.m. Nov. 19. The
theme, “Fibre Antics,” will
feature a presentation by the
Selkirk Weavers’ and Spin-
ners’ Guild.

There are times when I
think the church does a pro-
found disservice to its people,
especially the so-called “ord-
inary” people. It's bad
enough that the minister is
put up on some kind of ped-
estal (sometimes into a fish-
bowl).

‘The church has also taught
us to venerate and pay

Jesus Christ — not that they
don’t deserve at least our
respect and admiration.
After all, they did leave
everything behind to follow
him.

But this veneration over-
looks the fact that these 12

men. Certainly, with Christ,
they were called upon to do

very dear to Christ’. . just as
they were very necessary to
his ministry.
