Canadian Cellulose Dear Ann: After reading that letter from the woman who signed herself “No Garbo But Need To Be Alone,” I was surprised that you failed to see the obvious solution. F ; Her major complaint was that Mom and Grandma insisted on sitting in the kitchen while she prepared the evening meal—watching her every move, talking incessantly and getting on her nerves. — ‘Why should a woman who works all day have to come home at night and prepared dinner for her husband and a mother and grandmother? What do those two women do all day that they can’t put together.a simple meal for four people? : : Giving the mother and grandmother this responsibility would help them feel like ibuti of the h It would also give the working wife the break she deserves. a —AsISeelt Dear See It: Maybe Mom and Grandma aren't such hot cooks and daughter would rather do it herself. I could be wrong, however, so here's your letter in case she might want to give it a try. . * * Dear Ann. Landers: 1 am a 20-year-old inmate in the State Correctional Institution at Camp Hill, Pa. I've been here for 15 months. The reason I'm here is because I got involved with drugs at an early age. If any teenager out there thinks drugs and alcohol are where it's at, you are dead wrong! Sooner or later the law will catch up with you and you will end up in prison like me. Prison life isn’t pretty. If you are saying, “It can never happen to me,” you are dead wrong again because that's exactly what I said. You have to learn to say “No” when a friend or stranger says, “Here, try this.” é Take some free advice from a person who has been there—and still is. —Inmate K-9689 Dear Friend: Your prison writing paper and the stamp across the letter convinced me that your letter was no put-on. Sorry I can't reproduce it in the paper the way it came to me. There's something jarring about a letter from a 20-year-old kid who writes directly from the slammer. Thope you connected with a few million kids out there who are messing with drugs, frying their brains and risking their freedom in the bargain. * 8 6 ‘Pear Ann: 1 suppose this is a dumb question. My mom always laughs when I ask her. But I need an answer. Has there ever been any record of a top bunk bed falling down and squashing the person in the lower bunk’ Thave to share my room with my little sister and she always gets her way. She doesn't want to sleep on the bottom so I have to. We can't separate the beds because the room is too small. I'm’ afraid to go to sleep. Please answer this question in the paper. My mom would kill me if she found out I wrote to you, (She doesn’t like you—sorry.) I won't sleep until I read your reply. —Nightmares Dear Nightmares: I've never heard of a top bunk falling and squashing the person below—but I'm nol saying it couldn't, or didn't happen. Ask your dad to check the bunk with you and make sure it is put together securely. It might make you feel safer if you drive ina few extra nails as an added precaution. Millions of people read this column. I'm going to ask anyone who has had an upper bunk fall on him to write. The results will be the most thorough research ever done on the subject. Perhaps you'd like to share it with our community! Tat opportunity will come when Community Showcase takes place.
