Each of us has fresh memories of how we’ ecel- ebrated the Easter season. No doubt the students en- joyed the Easter break, em- ployees enjoyed a three-or-- four-day holiday, and families enjoyed being together in a time of reunion and fellow- ship. All of this is good... and not to be depised, but there is a decper enjoyment of Easter that comes through under- standing and experiencing the hope and purpose that Ged brought to mankind on that first Easter long ago, It Started in a Cradle To understand Easter, we need to realize that it started with a manger in which God's Son was cradled. Mary and Joseph, the Star of Bethlehem, the Angelic Choir +. these were some of the indications that God's love was bringing something very special to mankind! The fact that Christ was born in such humble surroundings, simply means He came to meet the deepest needs of all classes of People... that He is indeed approachable. . It Included a Cross None of us like to have our sins exposed, and yet sin, like a deadly cancer, even- ‘tually destroys every person - who fails to deal with it adequately. Christ came for the ex- : Press purpose af providing iS God's remedy for sin. As the light of His teaching fell upon the darkness of the lives of the people of His day, many of them rose up in anger against Christ, and deter- mined among themselves to rid the world of this "Dis- turber,” even though they had to admit His life was sinless and full of compassion and ‘helpfulness, Christ knew all of this would happen to Him... that he would be rejected and crucified, yet He did not avoid the supreme sacrifice of Himself. Someone has rightly said: “We think of the cross as being at the very centre of Christianity. And yet, apart from the resur- rection,.the cross stands for death not life! It is possible for us to stand on the wrong side of Easter and look at the cross all of our life, and not be redeemed or saved:" It Includes Victory Over the Grave Christ plainly told His followers: “I have power to lay down my life and I have power to take it again.” He laid down His life to atone for our sins. He arose victorious qver death, to as- sure us that we, too, have an assured hope beyond the grave (see John 14 and I Corinthians 15). - You can experience the deeper meaning of Easter as you move beyond the under- standing of what Easter is all about, to an actual experi- ence of Christ in your life. Repent of the darkness and evil that is in your life, and allow His light and love to cleanse and heal you; and bring you hope. . Clement of Alexandria experienced the life-changing power of Christ to cleanse and give hope, and she said “He has turned all our sun- sets into sunrise.” Let Christ do the same for you. | / Wedding Bells / Congratulations are. extended to Marnie Kristine and David Ronald Parker whose marriage took place April 12 from St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Trail.
