A businessman on a busy

city street was stopped by a
stranger who said: “You have
the face of a man who cares
about people. I'm a convict,
just out of prison, who makes
no difference to anybody.

But it would help me if I
could think you would re-
member me some time.”

And with that, the strang-
er disappeared into the
crowd.

That ex-convict knew what
we need to remember: we
need other people to keep as
going.

her parents. "She was met
with a strange silence. Every
one of her new friends were
from a broken home, and now
one of them knew what it was
to have a good talk with mom
or dad.

Which suggests to me that
those of us with a good home

extra responsibility to share
ourselves with people around

phasizes coming together for
worship, fellowship and ser-
vice.

That's why we have chur.
ches, rather than private
shrines.

We understand the point
the dad made when his little
boy was straining to move a
heavy stone.

“Have you used all your
strength?” asked dad

“Yes,” replied the boy,
with some annoyance

“No you haven't,” said dad.
“You haven't asked me to
help.”

We need the strength of
other people to keep us
going.

That's one of the funda.
mentals of human experi-
ence, and of Christian faith.
