OWNED & OPERATED view Concrete offers a whole new dimension in entryway, driveway, sidewalk, basement, patio decks and pool decks, in fact, a complete new generation of finishing and look much better than conventional finishing hods. Perry Hyson, owner and manager of Kootenayview Concrete Finishing, has spent several years in the techniques that create a longer lasting surface - hod has been the method of choice at Universal Studios in Orlando Florida due to its ability to accommodate any theme, from the roaring twenties, as used in “The Sting” to a city street for “The Blues Brothers.” Increte finishing allows the customer the look of natural stone at a much lower price. It is easy to install and maintenance, for the home or b owner, is 1. Perry notes, “There’s no worrying about weeds or buckling stones, an Increte surface is four inches thick and P|\asts a lifetime.” If you already y.\have an existing b| deck, and want to i | remodel, there is | no need to pull out the old pool deck. A two inch cap can be | poured onto the ij present surface to construct a Pj whole new look. For pool decks Increte finishing is an ideal choice because the surface is skid concrete finishing field. A long time Kootenay resident he is pleased with the increte finishing method, and its results; “I enjoy doing it. I enjoy concrete work. Concrete is there forever and if you do a good job, you're happy with it.” With Increte systems you get a finish that is “second only to nature.” Perry prefers the stamped concrete look; a specialized notched astler slate stamp that createe-a rock like natural finish. With the Increte process Perry can produce a surface look of slate, or natural stone, and create finishes in a range of colours like essex blue, granite brick, sand buff, dark grey, maple wood with dark brown and many more finishes to suit any decor or housestyle. The concrete mix he uses pours just like normal concrete. A colour, and there are 32 different colours to choose from, is added to the mix. Due to the colour hardener the resulting finish offers a stronger surface, one able to withstand 8,000 pounds of pressure per square inch. Perry then imprints the concrete to give it a “notched astler look.” This new type of stamping process turns what would be a slab of concrete into a two colour finished product that resembles natural stone. After the concrete is poured and stamped a sealer is then used to resist oil, grease, and fading, and preserve the finish for a lifetime. Perry notes that it is, | “Uuility combined with ” The sp hniques used create a surface that is incredibly versatile and offers superb surface strength. Increte is great for high traffic areas such as malls, or parking lots, and a careful selection of colour and pattern can help to create a residential masterpiece; from the modem, to the Grecian, to the roaring The Increte Perry Hyson, owner, prepares a slab of cement for increte finishing. and slip resistant. Kootenayview Concrete Finishing also specializes in exposed aggregate, a process where they wash the surface off freshly poured concrete to expose rocks giving the surface an exposed aggregate look. Business is good and Perry's product is obviously in demand. One of his most recent projects was donation of the sidewalks for the ~~Blueberry-Greek's new fire halberd the-siab~ His work can be seen in many of the newer homes throughout the area.
