Higher income taxes will dissuade new businesses from forming in Harcourt's own graphs that Alberta has lower income taxes than B.C., in addition no sales tax, Yet Alberta remains in overall better economic condi- tion than B.C. The reason is simple; the more money people have, the more they can spend. Raising B.C.'s comparatively low tax rates (which were never mentioned by Mr. Harcourt dur- ing his election bid) wiH only make other provinces more attractive to the new businesses needed to build B.C.'s recovery from recession.
