Many others placed in the top six which is a real accomplishment. The following are the complete results: Girls 11 and 12 medley relay won a bronze medal and in the free style a silver medal. These girls took a silver medal in the free style relay and placed fourth in the medley, Individually, Kathy won a gold medal for free style and three bronze medals for fly, breaststroke, and ILM. Brenda also won a bronze medal for back stroke. The boys 17 and over relay team placed fourth in the medley and fifth in the free style. Members were Bob Rafler, John Chase, Russel! Bealtie and Garth Gillman. Bob also won a bronze medal for the breaststroke, After a busy summer of seven swim meets and daily practice sessions, the Aqua-, nauts held a splash party for all the swimmers and their fami- lies at Pass Creek Park. Nearly 100 people enjoyed the good food and giived company. President E, McGauley thanked coach Denis Harrigan for his efforts and inspiration to each and every swimmer. The youngsters then presented Denis with a set of TV tables amid cheers and whistles. Churches Retirement Party Held A well-known community figure, Norris Churches, left on the weekend to make his home at Canoe, a small community near Salmon Arm on Shuswap Lake. Prior to his departure a retirement party was given him in Trail afler almost 30 years of service with Cominco, ir. Churches first came to Castlegar in 1939 but three y later.spent 10 years at the enast before returning. Children: Blomed | se ie em For Sunday” Fire’ « A fire Sunday, with the siren sounding at 12:55 during the noon hour, was responded to by 12 members of Castlegar * Volunteer Fire Department. Located in the 600 Block on 6th Ave., fire chief Ed Lewis said children were to blame for the fire. The blaze was confined to 20 square feet but was located between two older model cars which could have ignited at any time.
