cies to be considered a viable
explanation for any length of
time. Two other theories were
immediately discarded; Ethel
Priggham was not suicidal,

and the butler didn't do it.

Priggham's week-end guest
list, for the most part, read like
a society roster's who's who. In
Castlegar, and present at the
Priggham Estate at the time of
the death were; Priggham's
current husband, Biff Brad-
shaw; her half sister twice re-
tnoved, Alexis Romanoff;
movie star, Madge LaMarr; po-
litical hopeful, Dash Riprock;
plastic surgeon, Dr. Klause
Von Binkie; former nanny, Abi-
gail Anchorwieght; possible
mafioso, Sal Sanducci; and
Randy Flagstaff, a complete

unknown.

Known for her philanthropy
and support of the local Hu-

mane Society, the public Ethel
Priggham was kind, thought-
ful, generous, and sensitive to
a fault. However, Priggham
appears to have lived a double
life. According to those closest
to her, she was many things;
few of them good. To quote one
close source, starlet, Madge
LaMarr: ".... She was avari-
cious, bitchy, calculating, dis-
loyal, and evil. ..... I could go
through the rest of the alpha-
bet, ifyou like. .: .. But she re-

Earlier in her life, Priggham
had been known as a madcap
socialite and playgirl. Fre-
quenting the playgrounds of
the world: London, Paris, New
York, Hollywood, Castlegar,
this writer soon learned from
other week-end guests that
Ether Priggham left countless

gham's half sister, Alexis Ro-

very nice. A lot of people were
gunning for her. I wouldn't be
surprised if she was murdered
and if she wasn't it was a most

Due to the blinding. snow-
storm and impassible roads,
police authorities and other of-
ficials were unable to get to the
death scene till this morning.
By that time, the body had
been moved indoors and other
physical evidence had been
obliterated. A full investiga-

tion continues.

rent husband, Biff Bradshaw,

and beauteous actress. Not
amused with this turn of
events, Ethel Priggham was
about to take action.

Biff was becoming tire-
some, expensive, and he was
finding action on the side;
three things she could not
abide. Hence the invitation to
LaMarr to spend the weekend
was sent and a fiendishly sim-
ple trap set. She would bounce

Biff with one swat.

Though wide eyed and in-
nocent looking, Madge was

one hip chick who was onto
Ethel's evil ruse. If Madge had
her way, Ethel would be axed
before she had a chance to cut
anyone from any star-making
film.

Madge had a straight for-
ward plan. She would jab
Ethel with a hat pin dipped in
curare. Her involuntary mus-
cular system would fail.
Ethel's body would utterly for-
get how to breathe and her
heart would eventually stop.
Madge savored the image and
loved the simplicity of her
plan. Curare is undetectable
in the bloodstream.

Vivacious and effervescent,
Madge arrived at the Prig-
gham Manor in the early af-
ternoon of the day of Ethel's
death. By 4:00 p.m., she was
having a cozy chat with two

served shortbread cookies and
poured Earl Grey tea pur-
chased at Safeway. She loved
to play hostess. At 5:17 p.m.,
when Ethel's body was discov-
ered, Madge was in the con-
