Seer aT eal i Rennes Benn CASTLEGAR NEWS, Thursday, Jan, 28, 1985 Kiwanis Club is Studying Major Projects for 1965 | Fred Gibson was Installed as 1965.president of the Castle- gar Kiwanis Club at the group's annual installation banquet and dance held Saturday evening in the Kinnaird all ' Me. Gibson and the new officers of the club were install- ed by Kiwanis lieutenant-gover- nor Jack McLelland of Nelson, Immediate past president of the club is Jack Young. Merv Rush and Andy Shutek are vice- presidents while Jim Lewis is treasurer and Tommy Biln secretary. Directors are Ed Sorge, Jim ‘Lewis, John Holden, Bill leski,” Burt Campbell, Aage Sylvest and Bill Vogelaar. Perfect attendance awards were presented to Kiwanians Fred Gibson, Jim Lewis and Bill Waldie at the banquet by Gil- bert Fowler. In this report, retiring pre- sident Young said 1964 was a “year of retrospect and of plan- ning the future policies and pro- grams of the club.” He said a number of major projects were studied during the. year and the club is expecting to proceed on a suitable project this year, the 50th anniversary of .the founding of Kiwanis in 1915, Mr. Young said the club sponsored the blood donor cli- nic Jast year and also looked af- ter the art exhibit at the fall fair and supplied the trophies ig| for this section of the fair. Members of the club also assisted with the West Kootenay high scohol badminton tourna- ment which was held in Cas- tlegar and gave $100 to the SHSS band when it competed in provincial contests at Vancou- ver.
