JACTING LTD CASTLEGAR 365-5221 y PAX 365-5442 Ann Landers Syndicated Columnist Dear Ann Landers: I am writ- ing to pass the word to all infer- tile women who want to have a aby. I was one of them. I thought I could never get preg- nant because at age 14, I had ovarian problems and several I had only one ovary, ot in good shape. I married at 19 and tried to become pregnant. I took fertility drugs for a year, but nothing worked, My husband was not very supportive, and I felt guilty for not being able to give him children, I should tell you he 400 pounds and had no ex. We quarreled about it constantly, and finally, I divorced him. The following year, I met a wonderful young man and knew he was the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. He want- ed children right away and con- sulted a specialist. We were told he had a low sperm count due to a blockage, and the odds of our having a family were very slim. We resigned ourselves, agreed to make the best of it and put all thoughts. about having a child out of our minds. One month after we had seen the doctor, I became pregnant To this day, I cannot believe our beautiful little miracle child. So, please, Ann, tell your readers never to give up hope. If it was meant to be, it will be. — Counting Our Blessings Dear Counting: What a beau- tiful story of hope and a dream fulfilled. You lifted the spirits of many women today. Thank you on behalf of all of them. Dear Ann Landers: I'd like to know if I am the one who is nuts or if it is my 30-year-old daugh- ter, Here is the situation. My 10-year-old granddaughter lived with us for seven months. We enjoyed her very much Before she went back to Florida, I bought two toothbrushes for her to take home. Last week, I noticed she had left one tooth- brush behind. I put it in an enve- lope and sent it to her. Four days later, she called to say her 5-year-old brother start- ed to cry when the toothbrush came because he didn’t get any- thing. She then said, “Mom won't let me accept it.” I told her it wasn’t a gift, it was the toothbrush she had left here. She replied, “I explained that to Mom, and she still says I can't keep it.” So, Ann, the toothbrush is on the way back to me. Please, Ann, tell me in your column: Was it wrong of me to have sent the toothbrush to my granddaughter? — No Name, No City, No State Dear N.C.: You know your daughter better than I do, but she doesn't sound like a person who can be reasoned with. Apparently, any package that arrives in the mail from Grand- ma is considered a gift. In the future, don't send anything to one grandchild (even a forgotten toothbrush) without sending something to the other.
