Submitted by: Pastor Rick Popoff, New Life Assembly It's hard to believe but it's true, Christmas is just a few weeks away. If you are like most other people around you, now is about the time that reality sets in and you start to panic. You look at your calendér and realize that every day and night is full between now and then. Office parties, (two for double income families) school concerts, rehearsals, (for those involved in special activities) Christmas cards, Christmas trees, baking, shopping, decorating, cleaning, entertaining, credit cards, shopping malls, check-out lines, Santa us, these are the signs of Christmas. You wonder if you, will be able to make it through. Stop, take a deep breath and take a close look at what Christmas really is ISAIAH 9:6 reads, “For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince Of Peace.” Where has the Christ of Christmas gone? We sometimes chose to abbreviate CHRISTMAS to Xmas, thus removing Him who's birth is the reason for our celebration. Our focus is no longer on the CHRIST who was born in Bethleham, but rather upon the stressfull activities leading up to and including December 25. I heard it once said that if you take CHRIST out of the word CHRISTMAS all you are left with is a MAS (a mess). CASTLEGAR y/ UNITED CHURCH 2224 - 6th Ave., Castlegar Ph. 365-8337 Minister: The Rev. Ann Pollock 10:00 am Worship & Sunday School 2:00 pm Carol Singing @ Castle Theatre 7:00 pm Robson Carol Service CASTLEGAR FULL I feel that this statement is also correct in describing our activities leading up to and including CHRISTMAS Without Him “CHRIST” everything seems to be in a mess. Take time each day to focus upon Him who's birth is the reason we celebrate Christmas. Allow Him through the power of the Holy Spirit to give you a sense of peace in your life. Returning to work in 1988 she ran the insurance divi- sion of NRS in Castlegar and for the last two years has been working alongside Dale Bradley, also a Notary Public P g her own offices in the Castleaird Plaza gives Beth the Opportunity to work with people and “to do everything I was interested in. Many people don't know that the Notary pro- fession is over 2,000 years old and that notaries are trained to offer professional legal services - real estate transfers, mort- gages, Wills, leases, powers of attorney and more. Even Christopher Columbus took a Notary with him on his voyages to the new world to prove his claim to land in the new world.” Office hours are Monday to Friday 8:30 to 4:30 and Beth's secretary Lynn Rudashy, is also looking forward to working with their clients.
