AND WHAT HAPPENS NEXT! ‘ God sends someone across your path who has neon signs flashing above their heads that say thing like "I LOVE LIFE," "ISN'T IT GREAT TO BE ALIVE", ‘LIFE IS A BLAST" AND "LETS GO FOR IT." On a scale of one to ten that rates eleven in the frustration scale. BUT WAIT! Before you devise devious means of putting out the lights of this person, you would do well to consider the fact that their enthusiasm is a vital part of christian character. Enthusiasm is contagious and it is often the key God uses to release someone from their well earned blaas. When it is genuine and not a fake, obnoxious, front, it becomes a God given motivator that helps us reach our goals. Genuine enthusiasmdramatically affects your life and the lives of those around you and no matter where we are on the enthusiasm scale there ius always room for much more growth. There are dramatic life changing results when people are enthusiastic and excited about God but the reverse is also true when lack of enthusiasm and negativity are the order of the day. Enthusiasm is an essential part of the christian character. Even the root meaning comes from the Greek meaning "in God". Acts 17:28 says "In Him we live and move and have our being. Ps, 118:24 "This is the day the Lord has made let us rejoice and be glad. Phil. 2:5 "Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.’ of power and of love and of sound mind.” ‘Il Tim. We've been given a "Spirit God is the only source of true enthusiasm. DELIGHT YOURSELF IN THE LORD AND HE WILL GIVE YOU .THE DESIRES OF YOUR HEART. Ps. 37:4. Sunday School 10:15 am Worship ¢ 9:00 am Ann Landers Syndicated Columnist Dear Ann Landers: Have you ever seen a pathetic-looking home less person and wondered, "Where is the family? How could they have allowed this to happen?" Well, I'm afraid I'm going to be a guilty fam ily member in the not- tod-distant future, and this is why My family and I have helped my older brother for years although none of us has ever had much money, During the "60s, when “John” decided to "drop out," we hoped it was just a phase. He has spent his life bumming around the country, living off friends (and strangers), returning home when he ran out of money. My parents always let him move back in, against my advice. Today John is almost 50 and still living at home. He picks up odd jobs for spending money, but he's always broke. Over the years, I've given him hundreds of dollars, and I know he accepts my parents’ Social Security money regularly without a qualm My parents ate elderly and not in the best of health. My husbarid and I live in a nice home that we've both worked very hard to buy. I have a strong suspicion that John is laying the groundwork to move in with us. I've instructed my parents to leave everything to John, but I'm afraid he'll go through it in a short time, and I'll have to take care of him. I'm furious with my brother for making my parents’ retirement years a constant worry. He's not sick, and he does a good job when he feels like working, but he's always had trouble getting along with his bosses and co-workers How do Ideal with a brother who “marches to a different drummer"? Indianapolis Dear Indi: Take steps to make sure your parents’ estate is set up so when they pass on, John's inheri tance will be allggated piecemgal over a period of several years It he runs out of money, let it be HIS problem. You don't have to make it yours. dear. The role of Chrome Rescuer is invariably a thankless one Dear Ann Landers: | read with interest your letter about living wills from "P.T.M. in Seattle” some timé back Although | agree with the con cept of a living will, in some states it does not guarantee that an indi vidual's desire NOT to be kept alive by life-sustaining treatment will be honored. The living will is merely a directive to your physi- cian to withhold or withdraw life- Sustaining procedures in the case of terminal illness. It does NOT per- mit the withdrawal of nutrition or a feeding tube A properly drafted health care power of attorney, rather than a liv ing will, permits the individual to name a person to make ANY health care decisions for him if he is not in the position to do so. The health care power of attorney also States the individual's preference conceming how health care deci- sions are to be made, and the agent must act in accordance In.my opinion, the health care power of attorney goes much fur- ther in ensuring that an individual will be allowed to die in dignity. Please tell your readers about it Illinois Lawyer Dear Illinois: Thank you for explaining the difference (and a vital one) so well.
