Several individuals within the area
have formed a newly-recognized non-
profit society for dog owners of all
kinds. The dog owners are now in the
process of becoming a member of
FIDO (Federation of Individuals and
Dog Owners), which is a nation-wide
club.

As members of FIDO, the local
group wants to help bring together
the dog people in order to undertake
public education on responsible dog
ownership, create better public rela-
tions to get people to recognize that
dogs belong in society and are of
value to society, and to be able to talk
to various governments whenever
problems arise.

In order to educate people in dog
obedience, grooming, nutrition, etc.,
the society will be holding seminars,
workshops, mall demonstrations, and
fun matches. “We want to encourage
dog owners of all breeds, whether
pure or mixed to be a part of these
get togethers,” says society spokes-
man Christine Cross.

help find lost or stolen dogs, find
homes for homeless dogs, and go into

bring in a law which prohibits pet
stores from selling dogs.”

As well, the society will work to-
gether with the SPCA in stopping
cruelty to animals. “We are initially a
‘dog’ club, but our interest is to help
all animals,” says Cross.

The bride was given in mar
riage by her father. She wore a
white flowing gown with a three.
quarter-length lace jacket. Her
headdress was a circle of flowers
with a three-tiered veil. She car
ried a bouquet of royal blue and
white carnations and baby's
breath. She wore the’ groom's
mother's and father’s wedding
ring set. The groom was pre-
sented with a ring from the
bride.

The maid of honor was Kathie
Kanashiro, sister of the bride
from Lethbridge. The flower girl
was Krystal Ullman, the groom's
niece from Hillcrest, Alta. Joey
Kanashiro, nephew of the bride
was the ringbearer.

The attendants wore royal
blue satin dresses with waist-
length lace jackets, sun hats
with royal blue ribbons and
flowers. They carried royal blue
and white carnations with baby's
breath.

The/groom's brother, James
Vander Ploeg of Castlegar, was
the best man. The ushers were
Rollen Raposo of Castlegar and
the groom's brother-in-law,
Brian Stang of Hillcrest, Alta.

The garden reception was
decorated in royal blue and
white bells;-streamers and can:
dles.

The three-tiered white wed-
ding cake was decorated with
royal blue silk flowers and white
bells with royal blue silk flowers
flowing out on top. The cake was
made by the groom's mother.

Richard Burnham of Pincher
Creek was the master of cere-
monies. The toast to the bride
was given by her uncle, Tim
Ketchum, of Fernie.

The couple took a honeymoon
trip to Calgary and live in
Robson.

THE LORD'S PRAYER

Millions of people daily, or at least
weekly, pray, “Our Father who art in
heaven, hallowed by thy name.”

To hallow something is to set it
apart for holy use. It is to honor and
revere it. This statement “hallowed
by ‘thy name” is more than just a
statement of worship or introduction
to the Lord's Prayer.

It is a request or petition that
God's name would be revered and
honored throughout the world for
all time. To honor God's name is to
honor His person. How do we honor
God the father? Jesus said in John
5:23, “He that honors not the soi
honors not the father who sent him.

We dishonor the son if we say He is
less than the father.

We dishonor the son if we do not
forsake sin and confess Him as the
only saviour.

Every person dishonors the son if
they use His name only as a curse
word.

Every time we pray “Hallowed by
thy name” it should be a reminder
that if we dishonor the son we also
dishonor the father.

Jesus also taught us to pray, “Thy
kingdom come.” A kingdom implies
that there is a reigning king. The
Bible declares God to be the King of
Kings. The Psalmist says, “Who in
heaven can be compared unto the
Lord?”

But the prayer also) implies that
there is another kingdom. It is a
kingdom of darkness called “the
world” and is ruled by Satan and his
demons. They hate and oppose Christ
and His kingdom.

When we pray “Thy kingdom

come” it is a prayer of faith that both
in our personal lives and in all the
earth the kingdom of God would be
victorious and hold absolute sway.

Through Is death at Calvary and
resurrection, Jesus defeated Satan
and all his forces. Through repen.
tance and faith in Christ, we can now
make Him Lord and King in our in
dividual lives.

Then we make it our prayer that
the day will soon come when Christ
shall deliver up His kingdom to God
the Father when He shall have put
down all rule and authority and
power. For He must reign until He
has put all enemeies under His feet
The last enemy that shall be des.
troyed is death.

Jesus then taught us to pray, “
will be done on earth as it
heaven.” In the Garden of Eden,
Satan first challenged the will of God,
caused man’s sin and plunged the
whole of mankind into the misery,
sadness and corruption that it has
ever since experienced.

This prayer recognizes that unless
God's perfect will is done, there can
be no joy, peace or happiness.
Heaven is a place of unbroken joy
because God's will reigns supreme
there.

When we pray “Thy will be done”
we are asking God to have His way in
us first of all. God's will for man
that he repent of his sin and receive
Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

This prayer is also filled with hope
as the Seriptures make clear the fact
that Jesus will one day return and
purge the earth in judgment of
everything contrary to His will.

Then heaven and earth will blend
and God's will shall have universal
sway.
