bodies present a horrible spectacle, as

More Troops for.Otis.

New Yorx, April 20.—A special to
the Tribune from Washington says
14,000 regulars are to be sent tereinforce
Gen Otis at Manila as soon as necessary
Marine transports can be provided. It
is not expected -that the bulk of the
large body'of reinforcements will reach
Manila until the end of the rainy sea-
son juat begun, but - will closely. follow
the dep: from the ines of the
volunteers.

- With the regular troops already or-
dered and on the way to Manila Gen. —
Otis will have an effective force of 21,-
728 men, in addition to recruits being
sentevery few days for regiments al-
ready in the Philippines. This. force
will be raised to 35,000 by the time ag-
gressive operations are to be pressed in
the early autumn.

Fire Broke. Up the Meeting.
‘The meeting ef the Rossland brokers,
called for today at 11 o'clock to further
the organization of a stock exchange,
was broken up by the fire in the Flor-
ence hotel and an ‘adjournment was
taken until 4 this afternoon, It is
hinted. that the rocks and shoals
in the path of the stock exchange are
obstacles which it will be difficult to
overcome.

Brocxvua:, Ont., April 20.—Com-
atock leads by 202 with two or three
polls in town to hear frem. One poll in
Kelley gave Comstock amajority.
