On being asked his opinion Chief Guthrie said he knew of three of the various brands mentioned by Mr. McKen- ney, and had personally seen the Eureka brand tested in Montreal and so knew it to be — satisfactory article. After some discussion Alderman Clute, seconded by Alder- man Edgren, got the following motion passhd : “That this council do purchase from the Gutta Percha & Rubber ManufacturingCompany of Toronto, 1,000 feet of Eureka fire hose, two and a half inch by three ply, at $1.05, per foot, the said company to guar- antee the same for five years, the hose to stand a pressure of 500 pounds to the square inch.
