Aitumose, 586 Brandon Big Three BUYING FROM THE EAST |Se#% Local Speculators Are Making Money by Re- purchasing the Stock Which They Form- erly Sold to Toronto and Montreal Buyers— Big Day’s Business Done This Morning. This morning’s session of the Kneb i stock exchange was a_ record- breaker in the way of heavy deal- pore Gold ont ings. No less than 98,025 shares changed hands and their value was $9,737-50- Such activity is a striking com- mentary upon the recent chaage in the center of mining stock dealings throughcut Canada. Up to the first of September, Rossland was essentially a selling market. Im- mense blocks of shares were held here and the main business of the brokers was in filling orders from eastern buyers. Gradually how- ever Toronto and Montreal picked. up practically all the loose stock which was, held here. Rossland was long op ready cash but short on shares. About two months ago the change set in, and now the camp is a buyer instead of a seller. Practically twice as.mych stock is being bought here as'is sold from the city. Toronto and Montreal are now being drained to supply the shares.demanded by the Ross- land purchasers, The local movement is a shrewd and well iimed one. Most of the stock which was disposed of in the east by Rosslanders commanded a price well above the present quota- tions. Now the local dealers are taking advantage of the prevailing low prices by repurchasing their former holdi at prices id ably below those at which they were sold on the eastern market. The stock is again held here and Rossland marks up a profit equiv- alent to the difference between the two quotations. , Giant was a strong favorite this morning and 44,400 shares were dealt in at prices ranging from 5% to 6c. Most of it was purchased by local buyers. ; The local talent is also after Can- adian Gold Fields and 35,000 shares ie sersereremmeree ese Underwear, Hosiery.
