R : On, Castlegar, Rebels scored three unanswered goals in the third period to defeat Rossland Warriors 6-3 in last Thursday night's game in Castlegar, despite the absence of injured high scorers Geoff Yule and Doug Oishi, The Warriors opened up the scoring early in the game when Walker popped in the first goal. Tom Connatty had a big night as he evened up the score in the first period and picked up two more goals in the second and assisted on one in the third, Bruno Tassone also had a good game as he picked up one goal and three assists. Ken Schisler and Bill Cheveldave scored one each and assists SHSS Sports Tonight on Home Ice Castlegar and District Bowling Results came from Dave Kirby, Kevin Wilson, Steve Bozek and Gord Pace for two. The Warriors picked up two more goals in.the second period and remained scoreless in the third, Jerry Dyck, in net for the Rebels, blocked 48 shots, while McFarland kept the slumping Warriors in the contest making 32 saves. Penalties went 12,10 each team. Tonight will be “dollar” night admission for everyone, when the Nelson Jrs. visit the Rebels at the new Community Centre. The next game will be on Saturday when the Cranbrook Irs, will meet the Rebels, also al the new arena complex, Jr. Rockettes Victorious All the Stanley Hum- phries teams were involved in basketball action last week. The junior teams hosted the W.E. Graham teams from Slocan City. The Junior Rockettes started off over-cautiously. Score at the half was 6-4 for the Rockettes. Play opened up in the second half. The final score was 24-21 for the Rockettes. Lori Price scored 13 points, while Pam Schreiber controlled the boards with 14 rebounds. The Junior Rockettes played very disciplined basketball throughout the game, allowing only 13 turnovers. The Junior Rockers had their hands full against the, big W.E. Graham team. The L.V. ‘Rogers defense held Ellen Fowler and Tyanna Popoff, two of the best players in the West Kootenay, to one basket between them. Ellen came to life in the second half. She and Liz Baron . led the team in scoring, as each counted 8 points, Sherry Torbic played a good defensive game and was the team's top re- bounder with 7. Final score was 44-38 for L.V. Rogers. 4 7 8 « * Anew age group of basket- ball has been introduced by Mr. Uchida. The 16 and under team is for those boys too old to play at the junior level, or for those students who think they cannot afford the time required at the senior level. The boys played their.first: game.of the season against J. Lloyd Crowe junior team. Nervousness resulted in poor passing and several turnovers, Final score was 55-50 for the Crowe. Terry Halisheff scored 16 points, followed by Faron Ward with 14 points. Terry was also top rebounder with 16. On Saturday, the 16 and under team hosted the 16 and under team from the Crowe. The team showed more patience than they did the pre- vious game. Again, Faron Ward and Terry Halishelf were top scorers with 17 and 13 points respectively. An outstanding team efort resulted in a 54-41 score for the Rockers. Last Friday the Rockers defeated the Grand Forks Wolves 97-47 and recorded their sixth win of the season. The Rockers’ record is now six wins and six losses, James Warner played a stand out game and led the Rocker scoring with 29 points.” He was followed by Norm Wickett with 16 points and Mario Baff with 15 points.
