Because of the time Spent waiting for the decision, the one month suspension is over Thursday at midnight “ET was banned from the day it happened until Thursday night,” Ray said. Ray was waiting for a decision from the BCAHA First Vice President, Florence Rempel. He could have faced up to a one year ban from coaching. “It could have been a lot worse. I am happy with the fact that the suspension was only for one month,” Ray said. The possible suspension came after. Ray decided to pull his team from a game against the Kelowna Midget Reps during a tournament in Penticton, Dec. 27-28 Ray said he pulled his team from the game out of concern for the safety of his players, and refused to return to the game That decision is contrary to BCAHA rule No. 78 “Refusing to start play.” While waiting for the decision from the BCAHA, Ray was banned from coaching. Ray was happy with the déci- sion, but thought he would have been suspended for longer. “T thought it would have been longer because I broke the rule, nobody else did, it was my deci- sion."* One of the reasons for the BCAHA decision was according to Ray, the support he received from parents of players on other teams. “The support that was generat- ‘ed helped,” Ray said. Now that the waiting is over he is looking forward to getting back behind the bench and resuming his coaching duties. The Midget Reps have three exhibition games this weekend in Nakusp. They will be playing Williams Lake, Prince George and Penticton a a win in the final of the L.V.R tournament against the tourney hosts was close, but one point was enough to give the Rockers the tourna- ment victory. Leading the Rock- ers on the scoreboard: David Pereversoff netted 16 points; followed by Andrew Petterson with eight In order to earn their way into the final the Rockers beat Cre- ston 56-55 in the first game Pereversoff lead Castlegar on the scoreboard netting 18, Grant Mosby helped out with 14 points. Round two of the tourney had the boys matched up against Mt. Sentinel Secondary School. SHSS won the game 77-60. Pereversoff and Mosby each scored 22 on the road to the victory One of the tough things about the junior teams accord- ing to Hickey, is the develop- ment of consistency. Part of that development is for the vet- erans to lead the way. Hickey says Jason Archambault, Mosby and Pereversoff are the team leaders but, the team has incredible depth they can count on. ° With that consistency devel- oping at this point in the season, Hickey says his team has a good chance to win some tourna- ments. “I think we are going to peak at the right time. We have a legitimate chance of winning,” Hickey said. The Junior Rockers will play Thursday against J.L.
