.,.. lary The Rossland curling rink was the scene of considerable activity over the past weekend as the Ladies Curling Club bad their annual Winter Wonderland Bonspiel! Always a hive of action, this year's spiel was no different, as 24 rinks, mostly from Trail and Rossland with the odd one from Beaver Valley and Castlegar, were on the ice from early morning until late in the evening. Some very good curling was watched by a good number of fans. The ice was excellent! There were facilities for refreshment and food in the lounge, while behind the counters the members of the Ladies' club and the Men's and Retirees' clubs all pitched into help. On Saturday a couple of hours were taken off from the curling while the participant., bad a fine supper served by the Ladies' club. After their meal had settled, the members of the Retirees' club put on their little skit which was very well received by the visitors. I'm not saying this to boost anyone's ego, but when you can find a bunch of guys in their &O's and 70's who will put so much into a little show like this you've gotta know that there's high energy left in the old folks yet! Of course, without the Ladies' club members to dream this up, it wouldn't have happened. Now to get down to the Ditty-gritty. All the finals were played at one time on Sunday afternoon. In the "A" final it was the April Biscaro rink from Trail defeating the Marion Klit rink from the Valley. With the Warriors eliminated from the playoffs this spring, we are having a lot of hockey going on at the arena from other groups in the city. This coming weekend will see the annual Play-ForFun tourney with 12 teams taking part. One is coming from Victoria and the other team from Campbell River. Many former Rossland boys will be returning. Locally I think four teams are from Rossland. This is always an exciting event and always well conducted. Look for it to be the same this time and be sure to get out and see some of the games and other attractions that go along with the evenl You won't regret it! Why, hey, heck, you'll love it! And with that we'll say. Till next time, then!
