Complaints have also surfaced regarding the flagpeople direct- ing the vehicles. But city staffers and council- lors say they have received no such complaints personally. Councillor Brenda Binnie also added that she drives a school bus through that area and hasn't seen any problems. Signage question When the Hugh Keenleyside Dam is closed to traffic, why is the sign noting the closure posted at Celgar instead of on Columbia Avenue near the new bridge? Sure makes for unhappy visitors (and probably tocals too) who travel all the way down Arrow Lakes Drive only to have to turn around and come all the way back to the Robson bridge and down the Robson side. The massage therapy practise of Curtis W. Verigin and his associate, Malcolm R. Elliott, at 259 Columbia Avenue in downtown Castlegar, has relocated to 2806 Columbia Avenue. The practise is under the name of Selkirk Massage Therapy and is located just south of the Kinnaird Fire Hall. The new location has just been completed and offers handicapped and wheelchair accessibility. Registered Massage Therapists are trained, qualified professionals with an interest in the quality of integrated health care, research and disease prevention. Massage Therapists primarily use their hands in assessing and treating people with physical ailments. “The hands-on approach is a valuable healing mechanism,” said Elliott. Verigin agrees that massage therapy offers a true healing touch. Both agree that massage therapy has a definite value whether it be the sole source of treatment, or used in conjunction with other methods of healing. Massage therapy acts directly upon the muscular, nervous, and circulatory systems to rehabilitate physical injuries and improve health. Some conditions most commonly referred by physicians for massage therapy treatment include: whiplash, headaches, back and neck pain, sprains/strains, muscle spasm, arthritis, tendonitis, fibrositis, stress management, bursitis, sciatica, neuritis/neuralgia, insomnia, asthma, etc. When a physician refers a patient for massage therapy, the BC- Medical Services Plan (MSP) covers most (and in some cases all) of the cost of a visit to a Registered Massage Therapist. Extended medical plans provide coverage in addition to that provided by MSP. ICBC and WCB also recognize message therapy treatment. Curtis Verigin has 7 years of experience as a Registered Massage Therapist and has completed post graduate study in Neuromuscular Therapy, which is wide reaching in its treatment of various injuries and diseases. As well Verigin is also well- skilled in the treatment of athletic injuries. Malcolm Elliott has 3 years of practise as an RMT and has completed post-graduate training in Muscle Energy — a soft joint manipulation technique, and Cranio Sacral Therapy — a subtle treatment to bones in the head and body. Cranio-sacral technique, said Elliott is especially beneficial in the treatment of injury from motor vehicle accidents and migraines. Curtis Verigin and Malcolm Elliott invite you to visit them at their new location. The phone number will remain as 365-6721. Curtis Verigin would like to take this opportunity to thank the following contractors/businesses for their involvement in completing the office. - Mike Makortoff of Shermak Construction - Fred Bojey of BJ Sales & Service - Dennis Chemenkoff of Silver Crest Plumbing - A.
