Mr. Makaroff was born at Langham, Sask. on March 24, 1927. He moved with his parents William and Mary Makaroff to a farm in Alberta for a few years. He came to B.C. with his parents in 1945, settling at South Slocan. He married Vera Gretchen on Dec. 3, 1949, at Shoreacres. He lived at South Slocan for 15 years before moving to Shoreacres in 1964 where he lived until his death. During his fife, Bill worked for CP Rail in Nelson for 23 years. Later he worked as a millwright for Slocan Forest Products, retiring in 1982 due to ill health. He was a member of the Canadian Doukhobor Society. He enjoyed fishing, reading and doing mechanical work. Mr. Makaroff is survived by his wife Vera; four sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Ann of Tarrys, Wayne and Mareena of Shoreacres, Terry and Marlene of Sparwood, and Peter and Jeanette of Fruitvale; six grandchildren; mother Mary Makaroff of Raspberry Lodge; and sister and brother-in-law Emma and George Moojelsky of Fort St. John, B.C, He was predeceased by his father, William F. Makaroff. Funeral service was held at the Castlegar Funeral Chapel on Wednesday and Thursday with burial at Park Memorial Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Castlegar Funeral Chapel. Shelley Ann Ross Shelley Ann Ross of Thrums, B.C., passed away in Kelowna General Hospital at age 38. Mrs. Ross was born June 14, 1952. She attended schools in Nelson, Castlegar and Creston. She married Allan Ross at Vancouver on July 10, 1971. She enjoyed the outdoors and camping. She is survived by her husband, Allan of Thrums; two sons, Chris and Jamie at the family home; brother Randy Roth of Creston; sister Donnie O'Brian of Armstrong; mother and stepfather Dorothy and Len Carrigan of Armstrong; and grandparents Mike and Ann Jansen of Creston. She was predeceased by her father, Herb Roth, in 1981. A service of remembrance will be held Tuesday, April 2 at 1 p.m. at the Castlegar Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ted Bristow officiating.
