Wednesday, February 5, 1992 @ IN MEMORY Mary Lazareff On Saturday, February 1, 1992, Mary Lazareff of Castlegar passed away in the Trail Regional Hospital. A private family service was held at the Castlegar Funeral Chapel on Monday February 3, 1992, with buri- al in the family plot at Park Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Lazareff was born in Vancouver and came to ~ Castlegar as a young girl with her parents, Frank and Nastia Savinkoff. She grew up in Castlegar and married John W. Lazareff in Trail. She lived all her life in Trail and.Castlegar. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking and her flowers. : She is survived by six daughters, Mary Plotnikoff of Robson, Mabel Isakson of Castlegar, Anne Plotnikoff of Castlegar, Margo Harshenin of Kamloops, Dorothy Perehudoff and Victoria Popoff (both of Castlegar), 14 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one brother, Pete Savinkoff of Port Coquitlam and one sister, Florence Kabatoff of Castlegar. She was predeceased by her husband in 1979. : Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Castlegar Funeral Chapel. George William Hicks On Thursday, January 30, 1992, George William Hicks of Castlegar passed away at the age of 74 years. Mr. Hicks was born February 16, 1917 in Trail. He grew up in Trail and married Alice Thomas at Kinnaird. on March 23, 1937. The family then moved to Castleg in 1938. i - Mr. Hicks served in the Canadian army overseas dur- ing World War II. He also worked as an operator at Cominco for 40 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed _ skating, playing hockey and baseball. He is survived by his wife Alice of Castlegar, two sons, Marvin of Calgary and Lyle Borkes of Vancouver, one daughter, Oresa Smith of Osoyoos, three grandchildren, one great grandchild.
