This week's activity at the upper course saw some good golf. There were 41 golfers present and we had a competition composed of low gross, pick your handicap and match par, hidden holes, low and high, least putts and the longest putt on No. 9. As is always the case there are differences of opinion among the members of our group. This is the best sign in the world; a good fellow to have in any organization is the one who is critical. Sometimes, all it takes is for someone to produce a difference of opinion and you have the basis for a good discussion and that's what clears the air in some of our muddled situations. This week it was Mike Wellock with a real sharp 39 who took low gross, Bud Hachey, Duke Scodellaro and Morris Sawyer matched par with 36's. This is where you take a handicap of your liking and match par with your final score. The hidden high hole this week was No. 3. Sam Martin, Emil Kwasney and Cleve Cowland took sixes and in a draw Sam won the ball. Percy Hamilton had a four on No. 7 to win the low hidden hole. Two others, Duke Scodellaro and Bob Walley also had fours but won a ball in another category so were eliminated. Bob had a ball for the economical use of his putter. He needed only 12 putts to tie up that phase of his game and Jimmy Cornfield won for his 16-footer on No. 9. For the infonnation of those who would like to win in this last category, you have to make it on your first putt after getting on. Two . . . . minterest that came .to light tbfs morning were as follows. Guy Morey, the gent who keep us up to date on all the local golf scores, schedules, etc., with his On The Tee column, felt uncomfortable in his long pants after four holes on Tuesday.
