Sunflower golf

The Sunflower Open
Golf Tournament will seo
220 entries this year in the
22nd annual tournament.

Among them will be last

as Vikings
defeat Rossland ®

The Castlegar Vikings first
team defeated Rossland 3-0
Saturday night in Kootenay
International Soccer League
action.-The victory was a-re-
lief as the team had lost 5-0 to
Nelson in-a previous game
played on Wednesday.

Despite some hard pushes
by Rossland in the first half,
Castlegar controlled most of
the game. Team captain John
Wilshear said the team
played well together as a
unit, therefore resulting in
the victory.

Kootenay International Se-
nior Baseball League's Play-
er of the Week award for
May 16 to 22.

Ryan provided the main
spark in the Dusters‘ double-
header sweep of the Chewe-
lah Lumberjacks to receive
the award. As well he
clubbed a grand slam home
run in the opener which
helped propel Grand Forks to
a 9-0 Lumberjack whitewash-
ing.
