The Legion is looking for its associate members to become more involved. The Legion made dona- tions totalling $3,750 to 14 local organizations during the first six months of the year. Upcoming events are plan- ned for Grey Cup Sunday, Remembrance Day and New Year’s Eve. Dates to be announced later. The Legion's next general meeting will be Oct. 7. Recreation news Fall has arrived! The leaves are quickly changing color and the weather is getting colder which means it is time to plan some indoor activities. If you have not yet registered for a craft activity don't wait a minute longer — do it today. Some of the craft classes happening are: Paddded Picture Frames This hands-on session will give you step-by-step in- structions for making a frame. You don't need to know how to sew to make these easy yet fashionable frames. The class takes place on Oct. 8 from 7 - 8:30 p.m. in the arts/crafts room. Regis- tration fee is $10. Painting This creative painting class starts on Thursday evening and runs for six weeks. It is focused for the intermediate- beginner painter. Bring all your painting supplies and join in on this very dynamic program. (Christmas Wreaths If you are an early bird and are thinking about Christmas already then do we have the class for you! GRAND CHIEF VISITS Pythians hold meeting Kootenay Temple No. 37 Pythian Sisters held its sec ond meeting of the month of Sept. 25 in the Masonic Hall with 40 sisters and four brothers in attendance. Prior to the meeting a “no host” supper was held at the Fireside Place with guests from Fruitvale, Salmo, Castlegar and Vancouver. Sept. 27 at the age of 54 Mrs. Corbin was born Jan 1, 1932 at Tofield, Alta where she grew up. She moved to Vancouver where she lived for many years four sisters, Therese Corbin of Castlegar, Cely Liretee of Richmond, Laura Schnieder of Bruderheim, Alta. and Mary Jadicke of Calgary.
